I'm finally all caught up before the sixth episode comes out in a couple hours. I had missed Episodes 4 & 5.
I thought the last two were okay, nothing special. Episode 4 was especially inconsequential. The dragon thing was pretty cool, as was seeing Coruscant in a chase scene again. It just didn't move this season along at all.
Episode 5 went a little more ambitious with the massive showdown with the pirates as well as moving the story closer to bringing Moff Gideon back. That ending with the Jaws-like search of the shuttle was so cool. The effects were incredible.
I'm really hoping the last three episodes move with a purpose. I've liked this season more than most so far, but I think it's probably the weakest of the three. Barely anything has truly happened.

Yeah, it’s not bad but not great. It has excellent scenes and crappy scenes.
Also, it’s very risk-averse. It would have been cool if Bo-Katan was forced to kill that Mandalorian leader at the end. But I know I’m getting ahead of myself. Disney is travelling at a snail’s pace towards truly high stakes.
Oh and the ending of every episode will be a speech extolling the greatness of Bo-Katan.

It just seems so directionless and blah. When one of your episodes is 29 minutes long, we have a problem. There's no story.
Other shows will have several storyline playing out in an episode. Shoot, in Game of Thrones it could be 5 or 6. This show will just focus on one storyline per episode. Because the writers suck. This is really, really basic writing we're watching.

Throwing in all of these cameos is a way to rescue their failing merchandise division. No one wants the new characters’ toys but there are enough Bill Burr fans to buy his action figure. Same goes for the other celebs.
I have only bought one Star Wars action figure in 15 years: the Gina Carano one.

If they are going to be derivative, I guess Bladerunner isn’t the worst inspiration. It’s not like they are going to be original. There have been several Bladerunner homages in this season.

Yeah, and it’s frustrating because IMO it looks good. The costumes and make up and effects and art direction looks good. But it means little if the writing is so very trashy. I mean, at best it’s empty and predictable, and at worst it is complete garbage (Boba Fett).

I caught up in the the last few episodes ahead of this week's and had really enjoyed them - even the Coruscant episode which had some complaining. Fair enough it wasn't exactly the Mandalorian but at least added something to let us see what was happening new republic wise on the "capital" planet. However this week's - episode 6 - is the worst Star Wars episode I've seen, including some pretty ropey Boba Fett and Obi Wan efforts. Really awful immersion breaking cameos in a campy environment, which wouldn't even have flown in Star Trek, and basically filler in what is only an eight episode run. Pretty disappointing.

What about the droid bar? Is that what it was? Anyway I thought the droids looked cool, especially the blue 3PO. Bo-Katan is irritating me and even moreso is that Mando weapons forger leader lady. That grating voice she has! If Star Wars wants us to appreciate the female characters then they should make them likable. And I’d like to know why that mixed-race couple and their friends weren’t shocked by Grogu’s jump. I thought it was his command of the force that did it, not something his species can do ordinarily. Maybe the writers think that when Yoda was doing it that it was because it is a characteristic of his species, and not the force.

Yeah so bringing in Lizzo and Jack Black won't exactly lure the doubters back. Yikes, that was a bad judgment call on either Favreau or Filoni's end. Christopher Lloyd gets a break because he's a legend.
Black is a fun actor, but pairing him with *Lizzo*? No one wants to see her.
The episode itself wasn't bad imo. The droid stuff was cool to see and the chase was really well done.
Not sure what the point of all of that was. The end was a decent duel, but now this show is Bo Katan's, I guess? Mando does nothing in this season.
They need to end with a bang in these last two episodes. It's seriously the same level of writing as Boba Fett at this point, only made better because the visuals and music and world-building are leagues better here.

I truly think that they are trying to be very broad in their appeal. I think more female boomers watch the show than gen-x males, or that’s what it seems like. Grandmas and their young grandchildren. It’s simplistic and formulaic and female oriented. It’s undemanding light sci-fi.

It’s simplistic and formulaic and female oriented. It’s undemanding light sci-fi. I think you're right to a degree, though I don't think Favreau or Filoni are artistically compromised enough to completely sell-out like the Marvel bunch. They can play around with their celebrity cameos for all I care, but they need to create an actual narrative at some point. This season has been split into a) Mando needs redemption and b) Moff Gideon is coming back. Mando got his redemption in a one-off scene that gave way to Bo Katan more or less becoming the new protagonist and Moff Gideon is now free without us ever seeing him. Not exactly brilliant writing there. Also, how worthless has Grogu been this whole season? Nearly not a single thing would change if he were off training with Luke, except that he'd immediately be a more promising character for future episodes. What a strange decision it was to use TBoBF to shoe-horn in his return.

I havent seen the latest episode but I get where you guys are coming from. I guess there's a reason why the numbers are declining for the show.
Thought the battle with the pirates was a cool episode. I wonder when theyll reveal the identity of the Armorer. Could it be Sabine?
Cant say Im crazy about them bringing back Gideon. Let's get to Thrawn or another underling

I've seen this complaint. This season is literally about the the Mandalorians returning to glory with the rise of the First Order in the background. It's plain as day.
