Why is it so hard to denounce visual depictions of minors having sex or grandpa wearing S&M gear in children's books?
Because I remember being a child.
Anybody who would deny me the chance to read anything and I would move Heaven and Earth, and raise Hell to read whatever it is, regardless wether I had any interest in it in the first place.
And when I had read it, I would loose interest.
So you a big fan of Hustler's Beaver Parade?
Didja recommend it to other 4 yr olds?

Thought we were talking about school, not kindergarden.
I didn't know how to read when I was 4.

What age do you think they're pushing kids into school these days?
Read? No worries, there's plenty of pictures, too

It's 6 here.
If you include Kindergarden it's 1-2 year old depending on the time of year it was born.
But my point is: If you forbid a child to read something, he's going to read it. If you leave it alone,he has no interest in it.

If a grandpa in S&M gear is as a child what you would move Heaven and Earth to read about then you needed an exorcism visit at that age.

I would agree with you on the Taboo approach for most kids.
But there's also a valid reason we keep certain things and subject matter out of the view of children.
If an individual hunts it down themselves or uses the internet out of curiosity? That's on them. But don't act like there isn't an agenda being pushed here.

If a grandpa in S&M gear is as a child what you would move Heaven and Earth to read about then you needed an exorcism visit at that age. It's the old Forbidden Fruit (and if you read the original Bible it's not an apple, it just says fruit).
If you forbid it, it has to be interesting. It's how children's (and some adults) minds works.

LGBT book bans are organized government or local government policies it's not a parent hiding videogames in the next room. You can't get around that until you run for governor or President yourself.

Sure, I wouldn't want firearms anywhere near a child for example.
But I wouldn't refuse them to learn about guns. Or any other subject.

How's the Common Core Math working for you?
We don't have Common Core. We have Bildungsstandards. That’s better than common core. The way they teach my kids math is ridiculous and makes it more complicated.

Careful kid!
If you do that, Gramma may be taking a couple of good whacks on you.

The way they teach my kids math is ridiculous and makes it more complicated. 25 years ago I tried to become a math teacher (secondary school); but found out that teaching is not for me. I know that there are often heated debates on the "best" way to teach maths. I am not familiar with Common Core; but when I was a child, set theory was a thing. Some grown-ups didn't like it. So I guess there will be disagreements about the best way to teach maths, as long as there are maths. abbey1227

I like kids so it would be fun for me. If you saw what they’re doing to American kids with Common Core math you’d understand why our kids are so bad at it now. 40 years ago our kids did great now they’re abysmal. When my kids come to me and show me how they do their math I teach them the way I learned it and they find it easier.

That's actually not a bad example.
At some point, every boy needs to get the 'You're not firing blanks' speech.
But at 5? 7?
Guns should probably come first
