No scandals (as far as I know), carries out her duties without any fuss and appears to have been a good influence on Edward. The Duchess of Edinburgh has become the first member of the Royal Family to visit Ukraine since the Russian invasion. On Monday she went on a one-day visit, on behalf of the Foreign Office, to "demonstrate solidarity with the women, men and children impacted by the war". The duchess paid her respects to those who had lost their lives in the town of Bucha during the Russian occupation. There was also a meeting with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-68922333

Eww. Anyway, I thought Charles was supposed to be downsizing the monarchy?

I feel your pain. She’s not the type who sparks off a revolution that results in an Emperor who creates war throughout Europe.

Good influence on Edward? Was he a bad boy before? Don't remember him doing anything other than smile a lot and have hair.

Good influence on Edward? Was he a bad boy before? Don't remember him doing anything other than smile a lot and have hair. He was seen a a huge joke and nobody took him seriously. His main claim to fame was producing this… But he’s since achieved a proper degree of gravitas.

Royalists often go overboard and can be an embarrassment but I have yet to see a royal birth celebrated in such a manner.

Anyway, I didn’t bother watching the coronation or the funeral but I did catch clips later.

You didn't notice the Coronation? That was a birth? Are you being stupid or you don't know that births or the significance of births are celebrated? Charles' birth years ago was the purpose for the Coronation.

It’s just the way you worded it. I’m not a royalist and if it came to a referendum I’d vote for a republic but while we still have a royal family I see nothing wrong in appreciating some of them.

Sophie is 59 years old and has only just discovered she can go places why would that be appreciated?
