John Monash. Has been been called the most capable general on the western front in WW1.
He developed the then-new idea of integrating the various arms, infantry, air force, artillery with meticulous planning, especially of logistics and care for the wdlfare of the troops. A comment after the battle of Hamel was that his most notable achievement there was to deliver hot meals to the front line.
