And it's not the job of the police to pause and do a mental evaluation at the scene.
It think it could be argued that anyone who has cops called on them has something mentally or emotionally wrong.

I don't want to see unarmed people who aren't a threat shot. But folks have to realize every time a law enforcement officer is called to a scene of something going on his or her life could be in jeopardy. I don't want a cop shooting too soon, but I also don't want him not protecting him or herself. Hesitate and the cop could be dead. Just don't reach for anything. How the hell does the cop know what it is?

If the cop is white and the criminal is black they will side with the criminal no matter what the situation was.

How the hell does the cop know what it is? Cops shot this guy BECAUSE he wasn’t armed. Just like cops DIDN’T shoot the Florida school shooter, because he WAS armed. Cops are not private security. They aren’t accountable to us. This is why it’s so important for us to have guns, and so important for rich liberals to take them away from us. They want us beholden and dependent while they sleep safely in their gated communities on the hill with armed bodyguards. It’s class warfare.

You do realize, don't you, that cops shooting unarmed people is the rare exception, and that most people who are shot by police have a gun and often shoot first? Thus your whole point is meaningless. Producing a gun during interaction with the police is generally a one-way ticket to the morgue.

They shot him because he reached for something that they thought was a gun. That's why I said he was mentally challenged.

If the cop is white and the criminal is black they will side with the criminal no matter what the situation was. One of the cops was black so while they still have their boogeyman cops to demonize I'm sure there was a little disappointment in the newsrooms when it was discovered that they weren't both white.

True, and when it's mostly blacks who are out prowling around and committing crime they are the most likely to get shot. The ones who aren't acting stupid like vandalizing cars at night or walking in the middle of the street don't get shot.

Vandalizing cars (while stupid) doesn't warrant getting shot.

Vandalizing cars (while stupid) doesn't warrant getting shot. But from the information released thus far, it did not appear that this was a man simply walking along a street. Reports had been called in re: violence in the area and vandalism. What's interesting is that people get all "racist" about issues, but take a moment and ask, who's committing the crimes? If more white people committed more crimes, they'd get arrested more. Right? Reaching for something and moving your hands when you've got cops chasing you and yelling at you and a helicopter overhead is a stupid move. Right? The point remains, regardless of race, if someone's not engaging in stupid activities they won't have run-ins with the law.
