I like the World Cup, I think it's a great event.
I'm not into league football, that's just a load of peasants running around spitting, but the World Cup has a nationalistic warfare about t which I really like.
Kill Johnny Foreigner, etc.

12/1 for Belgium seems a decent punt. Probably the best squad in the competition if the key players stay fit and cannot see England coming first in that group. No one else has struck me as particularly impressive over the past few years and many squads seem to be in flux with some too old "stars" and some under developed potential.

I actually went to a World Cup game 1994 Chicago, Germany vs Bolivia - Germans won 1-0. 20,000 German tourists lustily belting out Das Deutschlandlied gave me a real sense of a Nuremberg rally & a shitload of 4 ft tall Mexicans/Bolivians/etc. painted green. I got a really bad sunburn. |

This is the only time I have ever been truly shocked during the World Cup, was watching in a pub and the whole place was stunned. Horrific and utter cynical attack by the German keeper. Could have killed him.
