My take on it is that the Germans were trying to get the colonised Muslims of Africa and India to revolt, and so make the French and the British lose some of their overseas manpower and possessions. This was of course nothing but a fantasy considering that the Ottoman Empire wasn't influential or strong enough to be a rallying point for Muslims, so jihad achieved nothing.

It wasn't jihad, you fucking morons. One of the leading figures in WW1, in the Turkish army was Atatürk (his military success in Gallipoli forced Churchill to resign). He was strictly anti-religious and the founder of secular Turkey. Don't even know this much?
