The light in my garage burned out last week, then I discovered today that the 72 inch florescent light bulbs required by the light fixture are no longer made. It seems that the only light bulbs available are 4 foot long "T8" light bulbs which would require me to buy a replacement light fixture to fit those smaller light bulbs. So I am looking for a light fixture with a color temperature of around 5,000K with a light output of at least 4,000 Lumens. It is a large room even though it is painted white. The "problem" is that the only light fixtures that hang from a chain and plug into an outlet in the ceiling the way the lamps I am replacing did. Either have motion sensors or bluetooth speakers both of which are undesirable nuisance features that are not wanted or needed. Since the power to the outlet is controlled from a light switch in the adjoining dining room kitchen. I don't want to have to hire a contractor to cut holes in the sheet rock ceiling and directly wire in some office style lighting in my garage. That seems a bit extreme for a storage room that I don't spend much time in. Just to go in there to get what I need and get out of there. So why in the world would anyone "need" bluetooth speakers for a garage or storage room? Why discontinue the 72 inch double prong light bulb standard, unless there is some technical limitation to LED lighting meant to fit in a florescent lamp. Or if there is some new logistical problems in transporting 72 inch light bulbs to the store it will be sold at.

The issue was originally that something brighter than a standard A19 residential light bulb was needed to light such a large room. At the time, back in 1992 the entire garage was unpainted sheet rock which was a brown color that required more light to see by because darker colored walls and ceiling make the room darker requiring more light.
