...hot stove burner, and then I went and took a bath. Before long the aroma of burning chicken soup wafted into the bathroom, and I instantly remembered that I had forgotten to turn off the stove burner, so I jumped up out of the tub, dripping wet, raced to the kitchen, turned off the stove, then went back and finished my bath.
A while later I went and checked my soup, but luckily no major harm done: all the liquid had pretty much boiled or evaporated out of the pan, and I was left with a very well-cooked mass of rice and chicken on the bottom of the pan, but no further damage. Oh, and there was boiled over crud to clean off the stove. That was the source of the burnt aroma. Yeah, there's always that. Oh well. Live and learn.
Had a good bath, though...

Lol. Have you ever forgot you were boiling eggs until you heard what sounds like gunshots in the kitchen?

Lol. Have you ever forgot you were boiling eggs until you heard what sounds like gunshots in the kitchen? I always use my watches timer when baking roasts or boiling eggs.

peachy, @moonchild, I've wised up recently and bought one of those kitchen timer gizmos, but, I don't always use it (like I should, obviously. lol). But hell yeah, my kitchen timer has saved me a kitchen disaster on more than one occasion now.
@moonchild,
