Except for the crappy names AMC put on their cars, they had the best inline 6 cylinder engine in the business. The only 6 cyl with 7 main bearings instead of 5. The body disintegrated, but you couldn't wear the engines. Wow. A little car like that had 6 cylinders? Cars bigger than that are 4 cylinder, now. Were they fast? The fast ones were V8s.

Whoa. Does that mean cars stink now, or that they improved on the technology to create more efficiency per cylinder? Cars are remarkably better today and much more reliable.

Were you ever in a car that broke down? I was driving my folks' old '89 Pontiac Gran Prix on the highway when the electric just died. This was 2000 and it's actually a parkway with traffic lights that I was on, and I was able to roll to the next light and exit to the right where the highway maintenance trucks were always stationed. They called a tow truck for me. I had my first cell phone, but there wasn't reception. 😂 It was a Motorola StarTac, all little and cool with analog to digital relay, no doubt. 1G was the tits.

Flat tire, fan belt broke, muffler rusted off, spark plugs worn out, bad coil wire, master cylinder leaking, wheel bearing worn out, leaking radiator, head gasket leaking, heater core plugged, radio antennae broke off, ignition timing off, bad starter, bad alternator, etc.

My folks don't have stories like that because they were born and raised in NYC and didn't move out of their last stop, Brooklyn, 'til my sister was 5 and my mom was pregnant with me. My mom got a Toyota Corona station wagon (very small almost like a hatchback). It never broke down! Then my dad got a powder blue Caprice Classic when the body was still sharply squared off. Great car. I used to lied down on the shelf at the base of the rear window, behind the backseat head rests, and my dad would drive like 20mph. Then my sister and I would swap and she'd take the shelf and I'd lie across the rear floorboards where she'd just been. Who needs amusement parks? And I lived to tell the tale.

There's a car even uglier than this, only it's smaller and the rear window wraps halfway around the corner of it. If anyone knows which one I mean, please post it here:

Yes, that's the one! The Nissan Cube. I kinda like it now. Not something I'd want but a pretty good design I'd say. Interesting and eye catching.
