Taught as part of the school syllabus now, as is the marvellous "Beasley Street".

I’ve seen in a few times but this night fits the bill. There was one act who are not featured on the poster but went on to much bigger things. They were Duran Duran and that night we all thought they were a bunch of twats.

Somewhere in a vault there’s an ITV recording of an early 1980s JCC gig where I’m at the front of the crowd and feature heavily. Although this was shown (once) I managed to miss it and a workmate later told me about seeing me sitting on the stage of the Bridge House. I’d love to find a copy as I was with my youngest brother who died a few years later (and I’m a narcissist).

I know he hated Martin Hannett's production work and the slowed up music background versions but they let the lyrics breathe. As an aside did you hear Pauline Murray's last solo album? I loved it.

Anyone who didn't read his recent auto biography, it's a great book, especially the pre fame stuff.

I loved watching him live but he does like to speed through his material. Martin Hannett brought out the poetry and to me Beasley Street is their masterpiece. I’ll have to catch up more on Pauline Murray as I didn’t follow her much after the Invisible Girls album. Quick visit to YouTube… Yay, Granny Rock!* *I’m allowed to say that as she’s only four months older than me.

Thank God, thought I was the oldest round these parts, sounds like you have a couple of years on me.
