WHAT DA????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
That has to be the weirdest outcome of any World Cup, ever.
And they beat Spain last night - they must be going mental in Japan - even more mental than Japanese people normally get.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even more weirdly, they beat Germany and Spain but lost to Costa Rica. Funny old world.

The Asian Confederation is on the ascendant. Get used to it. No longer will UEFA and South America dominate and give orders to FIFA. You may note that Australia has destroyed Tunisia and Denmark and is on the way to humiliating Messi and Argentina on Sunday.

Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia and likely South Korea - out. 2/6 or (long-shot) 3/6 - certainly better than it used to be.

They deserved it on their performances, Germany were awful against them and I have no idea why Spain were so flat last night, probably due to having already qualified, they didn't exactly look desperate to win it.

Less about them getting better and more about poor performances against them. When it gets to sudden death they will go straight out.

The reality is that Spain by going in second place avoids Brazil and Argentina at least until the final. I'm pretty sure they stopped caring about winning against Japan after they learned Germany was winning.

France was already through so (sort of) threw their match against Tunisia by fielding a second string team to give them experience, rest their top players and avoid injuries.

Same thing is going to happen with Portugal. They only need a tie against South Korea to become first of the group, so Portugal will field a lot the backup players.

We'll need a miracle for them but who knows with the way the current world cup is going lol

I saw some highlights. An amazing goal against Germany that gave Japan the lead and the win. Germany is out. So is Belgium. Oh well.

They no doubt thought they still had enough to win and it made no difference to them.

People who follow the Asian teams wouldnt have thought it unusual how well Japan went.

I don't think anyone particularly dominates at this point in time, Argies, Brazil and France are seen as best but all can be beaten. Come the QF anyone could win it. Anyway the real football is happening as I type. 0-0 at halftime Sunderland V. Millwall.

Sulking now, we lost 2-0. At least Holland are 2-0 up.
