I put it off after 20 minutes or so due to it being so badly made - really cheap crap, I felt. Got through it the second time but only because I don't like wasting my £4 on rental.
Unimpressive drivel if you ask me.

I did exactly the same, but may give it a second chance just to see if it was me. Feels like both this and the Fraser Oscar for "Whale" are a bit pandering. He was decent enough, but not Oscar worthy.

I liked it, particularly at the end where Michelle Yeoh more or less scored over the IRS

It is like Birdman, way too esoteric and very heavy handed.
It was not worthy of Best Picture considering the nominees. Even the mass crowd pleaser Top Gun: Maverick was more worthy. The Academy had its own agenda.
My choices:
Picture - The Fabelmans Director - Steven Spielberg Actor - Austin Butler Elvis or Colin Farrell Banshees Of Inisherin Actress - Andrea Risborough To Leslie Need to see Tar. Supp Actor - Barry Keoghan Banshees Of Inisherin Supp Actress - Kerry Condon Banshees Of Inisherin

I find Michael Keaton films these days to be excellent - he has a great eye for a script. Have you see The Founder or Spotlight? Both good, especially the latter.

"Banshees" was the best of the ones I've seen although I have heard Tár is excellent. Although The Whale didn't impress me I thought Hong Chau just edged out Kerry Condon's great performance in Banshees.

Birdman had an interesting premise, with a man going through a spiritual crisis, I just found it lost track of some of its characters.
If you want to see a superb film about a man who thinks he's a bird, watch Alan Parker's Birdy - '84, if not already seen.

Almost perfect, yet it flies, (no pun intended), under the radar for some reason. It was one of the best films of 1984 and one of the best and most original films of the 80's. Perhaps Parker's best film.
