India will be there. I can’t see South Africa winning a semi against either India or England to make a final. I also think, like Australia, South Africa will need to win more tosses than they lose against the big teams to get near the top of the table. Their bowling attack under lights with dew around will be carted all over the show (as will Australia’s). For both sides, they need to win tosses and bowl nor often than not to win. Australia 48/2 off 7.2 Yeah. There's no great secret to when and why Australia's skid started: it was when they started bowling first. They've given up big scores 5 games in a row and haven't really looked like chasing them. Saffers also looked like shit bowling first too. Winning the toss will be huge. As much as the ICC wants these giant totals to try and recreate the 438 game the reality remains that the least likely thing to lead to a compelling 2nd innings is a 350+ target. Ain't that the truth?

Belated happy 80th birthday for yesterday to Chapelli. Great captain and a decent radio commentator though always lacked the brevity for tv. Largely retired from punditry now though I have seen him on a couple of cricinfo podcasts in the last few months.

Australia chose to bat first in today's 3rd ODI, and they are off to a flyer with the score now at 119 for 1 after 14 overs.

This is an important match in the series.

It means something to me Power Ranger. And I bet you Australia want to win today and keep the series alive. India too would love a win. Fact is, I think winning always means something to Australian cricketers, especially when they've been on a losing streak.

Australia will be a bit disappointed not to set India more than 353 here. Looked on target for 400 most of their innings but only managed 85 off their last 13 overs. With 7 wickets in hand that's well below par. Still, 353 is something to bowl with so we'll see if they can end their 5 game skid.

Australia win fairly comfortably in the end.
Maxwell might be rusty with the stick, but he looked good rolling the arm over.
I think Australia has to bite the bullet, and give Stoinis and Carey the flick.
Warner, Smith, Marsh, Labuschagne, Maxwell, Inglis (wk), Green, Cummins(c), Starc, Hazlewood, Zampa - that would be my XI. Win it with bowling.

I will not take 2-1 series win seriously. This series was not played seriously. I will rate England as the biggest favourite for the world cup, followed by Australia. India and Pak joint 3rd favs. SA are not good in big tournament and I don't see any reason to change my opinion. They should have won 92 and 99 world cups. They missed their opportunity.

Aj-pessimistic as always. India are favourites and rightly so. England IMO are a bit over rated. The transition from Morgan to Buttler has been far from seamless and their bowling is nothing special, particularly in the spin department. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if England did win the tourney, but favourites? Of the rest, 2 of Australia, Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand are going to miss the semis. None would be surprising to me and all would be disappointed to miss.
So for me it's 1.India 2. England 3. Australia, South Africa, Pakistan and New Zealand. 7.Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh 10. Netherlands.

Stoinis will probably perform better than him.

Green is a better bowler too. Stoinis is probably the most overrated player Australia has had in a long time….
