GWS toil honestly to a 13 point defeat to Essendon while Melbourne are thrashing the Eagles in Perth.
Titans v Dragons was actually a really good game, the difference turning out to be a missed conversion in the 74th minute. I think both these teams should be 7-12th on the ladder and that could be a crucial result for both. Knights did the business over Warriors 34-24 in another entertaining game. Knights and Titans will both end the round in the top 8.

Titans are the sleeping giants of this competition.
They are playing well, and they still have AJ Brimson to return and are still yet to fully unlock the enigma that is David Fifita.
The Dragons are thereabouts, but just are missing something. I don’t really know what it is, but it’s something.
I think we saw the real Warriors tonight. Not quite top 8 material.
Knights - if they can slot Ponga into this side and keep him on the park, and a top 8 spot is theirs.

Parramatta hold on and destroy the last vestiges of Bob’s hopes for a decent Easter long weekend by defeating the Tigers 28-22.
In the AFL, the Cats started slow against the Hawks - but ended up winning by 13 goals….

I said the Cats would be fine at 0-3. West Coast next week the first of 11 games at Kardinia Park. They'll be Top 4.

The Tigers are a side that has one amazing skill - an error that completely kills all momentum. I’ve never seen a side do it as well as WT do. Charlie Staines the latest victim - fair play to Parra though, saw the space for the drop out near the sideline and Staines had no idea where that line was. Geelong have been fine for a while now. I literally cannot remember them not being at worst a Top 8 side. Usually Top 4 and a shout for the Flag.

Souths were getting on top of the Dolphins after a slow start but it was a bush league penalty and sin bin from Jesse Bromwich with about 20 minutes to go finished the Brisbane side off. 20-14 at the time, Souths scored thrice when he was off to win 36-14.
Crows had an easy night out against Carlton. An 8 goal blitz in the first quarter, held in the middle two quarters and 5 goals in the last to wrap up a 56 point win. Crows are banking wins early and have some excellent young talent. Methinks Matty Nicks's job is safe.

Freo defeat Gold Coast by 10 pts in the AFL’s version of the who cares cup.
In the NRL - Nicho Hynes franked his status as one of the NRL’s best halves with a terrific second half as the Sharks defeat the Roosters 22-12 at home.
Manly defeated Melbourne in bruising and gritty game 18-8 befitting the moniker “Battle of Brookvale”. Both sides rather clunky in attack, but I think the defence was the cause. Some brutal tackling tonight.
In the late AFL game - Swans up by 7 over the Tigers at 3/4 time. Swans won’t want to cough up another late lead, but finding ways of losing tight games late is Richmond’s specialty…..

Swans kick 7 goals to 1 in the last quarter as an injury hit Tigers ran out of legs.

You could really feel the love for Munster when he limped off after getting crunched. Seems to be hated by everyone who isn't a Storm fan or barracking for QLD in State of Origin.

Really disappointing the Dragons today. That was a game they had to win. With a man advantage late there were no excuses. This is obviously just who they are.
If the Dragons were disappointing, Canterbury was a non entity against Parra. The Eels starting to put wins together about as late as they could have to stay in contention.
GWS won an absolute thriller over Hawthorn. Himmelburg the hero kicking the go ahead goal and then getting a touch on what appeared to be the game winner for Hawthorn. Geelong predictably thrashed West Coast.
Collingwood got a strange old win against St Kilda. Absolutely dominated the game for the first 3 quarters but couldn't put it on the scoreboard. They then put it on the scoreboard pulling out to a 26 point lead. St Kilda then kicked 3 goals in 66 seconds to get it back to 6 points with 51s left and that's where it stated.

Didn’t see a single ball kicked today. Tigers had a hard fought win against the bye though.
The NRL is in a strange situation at the moment. The Top 5 is Brisbane, Penrith, Warriors, Manly and Souths. 4 of those 5 teams are going alright, but have been far from their best. The odd one out is the Warriors who are punching well above their weight.

Penrith and Souths both frank their premiership credentials in an absolute belter, South getting the chocolates 20-18 with a game winning try in the final 2 minutes worthy of winning any game of football. Cody Walker was immense for the Rabbitohs, and Nathan Cleary showed why he’s on track for GOAT status with a super game in attack, but tackled everything that moves and made a couple of trysaving efforts that were top shelf.

Brisbane defeat Parra in a steamy Darwin, that turned monsoonal either side of halftime, by 10 pts 26-16. Not a bad game, but spoiled by some odd decisions regarding the new “crackdown” tackle, this time it’s the ‘hip drop’. Far too many inconsistencies, but given 95% of NRL fans couldn’t adequately explain what a grapple, chicken wing, crusher, cannonball or hip drop tackles are - I don’t think it’s going to improve anytime soon.
In the West, the Doggies win by 8 goals against the Wanchors (that’s Fremantle). If they kicked better from their set shots, it would’ve been 80.

Think Parra and Brisbane are heading in opposite directions from here but the Broncos banked enough wins early they should still play finals. Parra getting their shit together in the nick of time. Bulldogs in the AFL a similar story. Freo having a shocker. Both West Australian teams are horrible this year.

Bulldogs in the AFL a similar story. Freo having a shocker. Both West Australian teams are horrible this year. It’s hard to see on TV of course, but Freo’s forward line looked so static that it’s remarkable they kicked more than 5 goals. I understand defence is completely different in todays game, but surely the basic principles of leading into space and if all else fails kick to a contest on top of the goal square are still sound. Freo kept trying to find forwards who were always well marked…..
