Dockers traded and retired out some effective forwards and bet the farm on Fyfe a) staying fit and b) being an elite full forward. Neither has panned out. Doesn't excuse a lack of system but at this stage they're probably trying everyone up forward and hoping someone works.

Geelong annihilate Sydney at Kardinia Park. Port move into the 8 with a thumping win over West Coast and Brisbane hold off a spirited GWS in Canberra.
In the NRL Cowboys beat Newcastle in a thriller. Feel a bit for the Knights. They're playing some good football but only have a 3-1-4 record to show for it. Bulldogs were improved against Cronulla but still not playing good football going down 33-20 and that flattered them as the Sharks absolutely murdered a couple of tries late.

Different year, same old Titans. Doubt any team has been consistently "better" at blowing massive leads oer 4-5 year period. Tigers don't know how to win Exhibit #9254, but Manly were impressive once they went behind.
Carlton make it back to back losses going down to the Saints with a last quarter fade out. GC17 kept their season on life support beating the Kangas at home and a win is a win for the Crows as they came from behind to nudge out Hawthorn by 3.
Traditional Anzac Games coming up. Melbourne v Richmond, Essendon v Collingwood, St George v Roosters and Storm v Warriors. I have no confidence in the Dragons so hopefully the Pies can pull it out over the Bombers. Warriors v Storm is probably the more intriguing game of the 2 NRL offerings. If Melbourne don't beat Richmond that's a very poor result for them.

Dragons are hot garbage. Pies up by 2 over Essendon. Think I'll shift my attention there.

Ah well. Going to lose them both this year. Dems are the breaks. And I was a little unfair to the Dragons. Looking more outmatched today than flat out bad.

Some big news today with the Tasmanian government securing government funding fo a 23'000 seat stadium in Hobart. The vote to give them the 19th license is expected to be a formality. They'll come into the comp in 2027. Already on the lookout for either a feasible 20th license, a merger or a joint venture.

But it looks like GWS has that region sewn up already. There are rumblings I’m hearing that GWS is seriously looking at moving there full time as it is. I’m sure there are a few fans of North, Hawthorn, Doggies and Saints shuddering at the mention of “merger”. In the NRL - Cronulla give the Cowboys a thump 44-6. Nicho Hynes again the star, the poor Cowboys are mired and struggling with injuries ATM

Newcastle with the worst bombed try I've seen in a while. Dane Gagai needed only a conventional pass to send Best in but instead threw the ball to a pacific island country about 3000 km in front of him. Parra leading 18-6 now.

OK, that game was a fucking atrocity. Parramatta bomb about 5 tries and still win by 31. Here's hoping Broncos/ Bunnies and Saints/ Power bring some quality in the main games.

Bunnies thrash Brisbane. 3 floggings but Souths the most impressive of them. Port/ Saints is close to 3/4 time so hopefully they'll serve up a good finish.

Port magnificent in the clutch. Asked plenty oflf questions by St Kilda in the last quarter and answered all of them. Held on to win by 7. Charlie Dixon kicked the sealer after taking a big contested mark 25m in spite of the fact he could barely move. Jeremy Findlayson, whose wife has terminal cancer, took 2 good defensive marks near the end.

Watching the “Battle Of the Bridge” and it’s a fair indication of where the AFL is in Sydney right now. An SCG which at best is 2/3 full and very little orange and charcoal amongst them.
The fact I had no idea it was on until 40 minutes ago also says a lot.
Likewise the Waratahs played last night too. Apart from the smattering of pale blue jerseys here and there last night on stations on the North Shore line - THE heartland of Rugby Union in Sydney - I’d have no idea it was on….
Anyways - Quarter time : GWS 25 Sydney 20. The other game - Brisbane 55 Freo 17.
Dolphins and Raiders about to kick off in the NRL

Toby Greene kicking the match winner in the last minute as GWS overcame a 24 point deficit halfway through the last quarter. Canberra/ Redcliffe looks a ripper too, Raiders winning in golden point.
