Bulgaria after the First Balkan War Context: Bulgaria fought on the side of the Balkan League, a coalition of the nations of Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and Montenegro, against their common enemy the Ottoman Empire. After a 7 month war lasting from October, 1912 to May, 1913, the Balkan League was victorious. Unhappy with its territorial gains after the war, Bulgaria attacked its former allies Serbia and Greece in June, 1913, about one month after the war's end. A coalition consisting of Serbia, Greece, Romania, Montenegro, and their erstwhile common enemy, the Ottoman Empire, defeated Bulgaria after a brief month-long war, resulting in Bulgaria losing territory to the victors.
Edit: The gif is from a scene in Forrest Gump. In case anyone is interested and doesn't recognize it.

Context: Norman Petty was a musician and record producer. He produced Buddy Holly's music and was also his manager. Petty had a habit of withholding royalties from the talent he represented because he thought they were too young to be trusted to not squander their money. In need of cash, and with Petty being tight-fisted, Holly agreed to perform a winter tour through the Midwest with several other popular music acts. The tour was an ill-conceived disaster, with shows sometimes being scheduled hundreds of miles away from each other, requiring everyone to travel long distances in the harsh winter with little rest. Exhausted by the travel on a cold bus (one musician even suffered frostbitten feet), Holly chartered a plane to take him to the next tour location of Fargo, ND after playing a show in Clear Lake, IA on February 2, 1959. Musicians Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson accompanied Holly on the flight. The plane went down in bad weather and all three musicians, as well as their young pilot, died in the crash. An interesting note is that Valens and Richardson were not initially supposed to be on the flight. Holly had meant for his bandmates Waylon Jennings (yes, THAT Waylon Jennings) and Tommy Allsup to accompany him. Jennnigs gave up his seat to Richardson because Richardson had the flu, and Allsup lost his seat to Valens in a coin flip. After some friendly banter, Holly told Jennings that he hoped their bus froze up, to which Jennings responded that he hoped Holly's plane crashed.

Which one, dammit?! Context: There were two revolution in Russia in 1917: The February Revolution that resulted in the end of the monarchy and a powering-sharing deal between the Bolsheviks (i.e. Communists) and the Provisional Government, and the October Revolution, wherein the Bolsheviks ousted the Provisional Government, kicking off the Russian Civil War. Just for fun, there was also an earlier revolution in 1905 that failed to end the monarchy but did force some reforms which, as history shows, were not enough to save the Tsar in the long run.

Context: In July, 1184, King Henry VI of Germany called a Hoftag (informal assembly) to settle a dispute between Louis III of Thuringia and Archbishop Conrad of Mainz. Many noblemen were called to attend. As the assembly began, the combined weight of the attendees caused the wooden floor to collapse, sending people into the cesspit below. As many as 60 people died by drowning in excrement.

And in the corner, a short Austrian man with a funny mustache begins to plot.
