Can't wait to not watch it.
When we were kids, Vader was a villain (and an iconic one at that). Dude is a fucking monster. But ever since that god damned cartoon, there's this obsession with portraying him as "Poor Anakin." I can't fucking stand how obsessive and repetitive this shit is. Filoni goes back to the same shit over-and-over His fans eat it up too. Every book, comic, and video game made since the OT showed him as a villain. That's what he was. That's his legacy. I recommend Marvel's comics, btw. But ever since that stupid cartoon came out, there's this obsession with showing him as some good dude. With bringing him back and portraying him as some victim. We're supposed to pretend Christsensen's performance was beloved now.
I don’t think that was the goal or the aim of the cartoons. They were trying to portray Anakin at the height of him being a hero and pursuing the Light side. Pursuing being a Jedi master before he became completely corrupted by Palpatine’s influence and his own selfish ambitions. But after he goes on that killing spree at the Jedi Temple - and especially after he dawned the iconic suit - he becomes the irredeemable, totally evil villain. What I don’t like is some recent portrayals of early suit Vader where they try to bleed the conflicted Anakin personality (that he has mid episode 2 and mid episode 3) into his Vader persona. It’s inaccurate and doesn’t make much sense. After he dawned that suit (to steal a line of Vader’s from The Return of the Jedi) “There is no conflict!” Are we talking about Ahsoka - the Filoni show - excusing Vader by trying to say Vader is a different personality from Anakin?

That and some of the conversational scenes between Vader and ObiWan in the ObiWan TV series.

That and some of the conversational scenes between Vader and ObiWan in the ObiWan TV series. I don't remember those specifically, but isn't this proving my point? Nobody thought Vader was a victim back in the day. Hell, nobody thought it after the prequels. This is a new wave thing. Younger newer fans who grew up on the prequels and The Clone Wars.

Damn near 950 liked this.
There are examples everywhere. He's not a villain anymore, he's a victim and it's driven almost entirely by young fans.

Also, why don't these people age? The Clone Wars characters should be like 60.

I would say it’s at least partly true. Maybe even mostly true. But The Clone Wars animated series ran from 2008 to 2013, 2014ish. And their audience viewer rating was decent but nothing spectacular. It got many more fans who subsequently went back and watched the older seasons after season 7 was put out on the Disney channel. Also when you look at the dates those posts were posted, it’s after the release of The Force Awakens, some after the release of The Last Jedi and even Rise of Skywalker. So I think some of this is Kylo fans projecting how they perceive Kylo onto Anakin. One person even compared both them similarly. I think there’s some shared blame here. Edit: And again, some of this stuff in the Ahsoka show and the ObiWan show is encouraging these wacky reconn viewpoints.

Kids who grew up on the prequels and Clone Wars are in their teens and 20s now and they are fucking rabid about their precious prequel era, Filoni, and Lucas-only Star Wars.
