They need to finally take into account the possibility that their test audiences might be idiots. Could be. But it’s a system that has been around a long time and it has probably proved to be right most of the time at least. But isn’t it the case that it was after The Marvels debacle that they announced that Cap 4 was going to be reshot? The Marvels disaster was, among other things, a rejection of D+ and D+’s impact on cinema takings. I mean, wasn’t that their plan? That D+ shows would set up the films? Two of the three leads in The Marvels originated in D+ (yes I know that Photon or whatever was in Captain Marvel, but it wasn’t her origin story as such). So maybe the rumours are right about Cap 4 and its preachy politics. If Disney thought that a continuation of F&TWS was going to be well received, The Marvels only showed that no one likes the D+ crap. Actually, the Marvels was because of the Strikes, invisible promotions and barely any marketing. And then what little marketing it got gave entirely the wrong idea.
You actually didn't need to see D+ to see the Marvels.
Funny, WandaVision and FATWS and Hawkeye and Moon Knight and Loki and other D+ things show people like the D+ more than most of Phases 1 and 2.

What do you mean by the bold part? It made people think they needed to see the D+ shows to understand the movie, they didn't because everything in the movie was explained without needing to see the shows.

The original mistake was introducing the characters in the shows. Of course people assumed they were required viewing. They put the cart before the horse and it cost them dearly.

Nope, no one complained about Daredevil being in No Way Home and nothing being explained about him. So they can tolerate TV characters.
And no, it's not just because he was only in one scene. If he'd been in the entire thing helping out as Daredevil no one would have complained.
If they'd made it clear that they'd catch people up in the movie without you needing to see the shows, they'd have understood. But that didn't happen.

Terrible example. Just terrible. General audiences didn’t know he was in the movie. And I think they would’ve had a problem if DD was advertised as being in the entire thing. A lot of general audiences would’ve felt alienated because they hadn’t seen the show. They simply shouldn’t use characters from the shows at all. Doesn’t even matter if the movie catches you up. People don’t like feeling like they missed something and will sooner just check out entirely. If they do put DD in the next one as a co-lead I guarantee you it will backfire.

It wouldn't, just like if Kingpin was a Spider-Man movie villain and they used the TV version.
The audience kept saying they wanted more connection between the TV shows and movies, so they're getting what they asked for.

I know people will complain that its too political but that sounds kind of awesome to me. It really depends on how good the writing is. One of the best seasons of television i have ever seen has the prez as its villain. But on the other hand, Intelligent and nuanced social commentary is hard to find these days. This could be heavy handed and preachy.

@admiralackbar it wouldn’t be the first superhero movie to have a fight scene at the White House. ‘Wonder Woman: 1984’ did it too :P.
