I like merh and consider her a pal. I was just legitimately curious about her reply, is all.
Same here..........and even though my mind is not as sharp as it used to be (as she loves pointing out) she manages to occasionally lump me into a large group stereotype no matter how often I've explained it just doesn't apply to me. I blame her consumption of certain 'news' sources. :P
You do in fact say a lot of crazy shit though, but we still love you.

Call me a provocateur :D
Sometimes I'm just playing Devil's Advocate
But mostly it's just my view that the accepted approaches are crazier than my thoughts.

What do you think the price of food would be without those same immigrants not working in AG or meat processing plants?
I could use the Colbert (and others) argument that it'd be mere pennies and nickels.......scoffing about what others have to pay.
But the truth of the matter is it would cost more. And?
Shouldn't we actually pay for things? For what they actually cost?
What sense does it make to have our entire lives and choices subsidized by someone else? Are we helpless children in need of care and an allowance our entire lives?
But you just chided merh about the price of housing. Did you not? So shouldn’t we just pay what the market dictates for housing? Your narratives seem to be compartmentalized to suit your argument. American farmers have been subsidized FOR DECADES. Why do I think this has never been a concern of yours? Save the sanctimonious “are we helpless children”. You're just trying to deny people a place in this country. Do you know what the biggest barrier in home ownership is today? Corporations buying homes in bulk, and only providing them for rent at an astronomical price for the given area. Migrants aren’t the cause of unaffordable housing. The anti-immigrant tropes you’re repeating have been used for years, and have always proven to be baseless.

You're ignoring HER politics........and the effect that has on housing. Allowing in Illegals by the millions is a factor in high housing costs, is it not?
They have been subsidized. And it isn't for the long term good, imo. Why should farming be any different than any other business operation? EVERYONE should be subsidized? That's like pushing for EVERYONE to be employed/paid by Govt. I could argue the downfall of small family farms IS all of those subsidies that made it suddenly very appealing to huge corporations to buy up all the farms.
I am and will continue to deny Illegals a place in this country. We do the same for criminals when we remove them from our society.
I'm responding as I read your post..........so here we go again......... they started subsidizing Rent. Which drove up the asking prices for rent........and then, lo and behold, large corporations suddenly realize it makes sense to buy up all the rental properties? Coincidence? I think not.
Proven? By whom? You've yet to convince me. The lies and stat picking aren't working. Meanwhile I manage to exist and navigate my way thru this oppressive system? Though, it is becoming increasingly difficult, mostly because of Govt growth and intrusion, imo.

The truth is small family farms are inefficient. That’s just a fact. That’s why in the end it makes sense for people with small farms to sell, and that’s why they do.

that ED-209 was not designed to use stairs? Was this a simple example of incompetent design in a rush to bring a product to market, or was it a scheme to get the city to spend ANOTHER huge pile of money later on the ED-209A that was capable of using stairs without falling over? Good question. Did libs think that criminals were only going to use elevators every time?

There are benefits to larger operations. No doubt. But there are also several negative effects, too.
From what I've seen........surrounded by farm for decades.........is that suburbs develop in the area expanding towns and villages.........and very often the American kids no longer even want to put in the extreme amount of time and work it takes to keep a farm functioning. So then we're back to Illegals, again. ;)

Isn't that everywhere? I though lots of countries subsidize stuff. Like Rice in Japan. TPP would have expanded trade in rice with Japan, but the deal was killed. I know oil gets subsidized in many countries.

All of your "hey libs" threads. However, the car frequents Santee(referred to as Klantee) so I will credit it probably isn't yours. Maybe a friend? Divisive much? "Hey Libs!" is just a gimmicky title to off-topic threads asking the majority-left board a fun question. Why would you use something like that to lump him, out of all people who lean right, into that goofy stereotype, especially even when it's well known that he despises Trump? So...no sense of humor. I know Hugs isn't in San Diego so I know he wouldn't be driving a car here. Though note the side window has "The liberal dems are destroying America". Sure. No way it is similar to "hey libs"

I know you don't fall in line with all conservative party lines just as no one (hopefully) does that has a brain. We all find the candidate that matches the most of what we want accomplished without threatening to do stuff we abhor. Sometimes they lie & do the opposite of what they promised to do sonall we can do is nit vote for them again & hope no one else does.

The government hasn't subsidized homeowners? Or that subsidy is good? I've done my own taxes for decades. Thank you, Ronnie. I remember when that came down.

There is a candy store for sale near me(within 3 miles). Sign in the window says $$$ takes all ($25,000? Not paying attention) I'm gambling health issues or inherited/kid doesn't want to carry on the parent's business. There was a family burger joint a co-worker frequented with the same problem. The owner was retiring & the kid didn't want it so the parent was looking for someone to buy it. Dude, back in the 70s teens didn't want the crap pay picking fruit. Several kids I went to school with said it wasn't worth it, claimed they made more from their parents giving them an allowance. I made $80 a week picking cherries.

I'd be all for eliminating ALL subsidies.......even the home owners, which I benefit from. Sickening how they've figured out a scheme to bribe everyone.
So you're pissed at Ronnie for not allowing you to deduct Interest that you shouldn't have gotten yourself on the hook for in the first place?

Jump on that! Be the Candy Lady or whatever Japanese word applies to it ;)
Restaurants are about the toughest biz.........just because of the sheer amount of competition and so many variables.
They get away with paying crap because they've had access to foreigners at cheap wages for many, many decades. You'd be surprised how much some Illegals get paid, though.
And you are an olde school, dedicated worker bee. Much more so than me. You're a tough find these days.
