Star Wars is a mess, a film hasn’t been released in years and you select Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy to make a Rey movie. You’re a genius.

cry more, you made George sell SW with all your whining . But i think its incredibly risky to have a documentary filmmaker direct a production like Star Wars.

There are still Rey figures on the toy shelf which have been there since 2017. Merchandising was a large component of the revenue for the Star Wars brand and it is effectively dead.

Lucas selling the franchise is the best thing to happen to it since the original trilogy. I have no tolerance for the"DiSnEY StaR WArS" crowd, but it was time. Lucas has no drive or creativity anymore.

But Disney managed to make even worse content than what Lucas did. I’m saying there is no excuse for the crap that Disney has made. If you like Disney Star Wars, that’s good for you. Personally, I think that Star Wars could be infinitely better. I really didn’t think it could be worse than the prequels but here we are.

Almost everything made since them has made more money and/or has better reviews and you people pretend the prequels are beloved. Revisionist history bullshit.

The either/or fallacy is hilarious in this thread.
Not one of the new movies in the Sequel Trilogy is better than any of the Prequels imo.
And I give two of the three Prequels a 6/10.
It’s possible to like parts of movies and dislike others. It’s possible for there to be good and bad in both trilogies.
And the Prequels are beloved now. They weren't at the time of their release, but now all the kids that grew up with them are older and love them. This is very simple, easy stuff.
In ten years, the Sequels will be beloved by the kids who grew up with them. It’s not “revisionist history.” It’s nostalgia.

That was how they were introduced to Star Wars and they aren’t as critical of it as older people are. I get that. But I’m not sure that it follows that the sequel trilogy necessarily has many young fans. I’m not someone who likes any of the films really. But I think I get the appeal. I think that even kids have a certain level of discernment. They don’t just love everything they see. It has to resonate with them and I doubt that the sequel trilogy appealed even to kids. The toys aren’t selling which means that they didn’t really care about the characters or designs. I don’t think there are millions of kids who think that Finn is as cool as Han. And most little girls don’t see themselves as Rey, let alone little boys. And I doubt that kids find old Luke to be as interesting as Ben Kenobi was. Add to this that the story in the sequel trilogy just doesn’t have much cohesion. It just doesn’t have any narrative hooks to capture kid’s’ imaginations. I doubt that kids talk about the sequel trilogy at school or will read books and comics about Finn and Poe’s continuing adventures. The Mandalorian might have a young audience who will feel nostalgia for it in time. I can imagine that it’s awesome for them and they might binge watch it and be fans. But I’m sceptical that they will feel the same for the sequel trilogy.

You mean like the 16 years between the originals and those shitty prequels? During those 16 years the prequel stories had legendary status. And why not? The story of Anakin and Obiwan and what exactly happened was compelling. No, the prequels didn’t match the potential at all. They were bad. But I’ve always said that they kept the flame alive. The Last Jedi completely extinguished it. The saga that is. No one cared about who Rey’s parents were or what was going to happen. Everyone saw it for closure, that’s all. The saga is dead. Star Wars in general is on life-support but any story with potential has to be further removed from the saga debacle. I believe that the potential for Star Wars is sky high. Infinite amount of stories could be told within its far-reaching parameters. But Disney Star Wars films have been a depressing failure. The Mandalorian was going well but even that became a massive disappointment.

He was so depressed people didn't gobble them up he gave up. Sold the franchise (only to complain AGAIN when Disney didn't use his shitty sequel scripts). People didn't care about "ThE SAgA" after his shitty preqeul trilogy.

No it’s not, the kids loved them, they just weren’t on the internet yet to talk about it, sitting in their own glutinous filth like you, you fat bastard.

Kids certainly never like bad movies. Great argument though.
