At any rate, Kit Harrington won't be in it. So his appearance in Eternals was pointless. He could have been in Black Panther trying to obtain the Ebony Blade after Tchalla’s passing but noooo, we had to have Latino Namor.

From looking like a supply teacher on his first day in Eternals to taking on Wakanda in a Black Panther movie?

We almost got one directed by David Fincher?
"I developed a draft with Fincher, and it was before he had done Seven," Goyer recalls while speaking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. "I think he had done Alien 3, and maybe he was developing Seven. I developed a draft with him… There were surely script things, but what was interesting was, I remember going to our producers office, Peter Frankfurt. There was this giant conference table, and Fincher had laid out 40, 50 books of photography and art that were just open with post-it notes in them, and he just said, 'This is the movie,' and took us on a two-hour tour around the table of this is the aesthetic, this is the vibe for this scene, that scene, this character, that scene, and It was such a fully fleshed out visual pitch. There's not question that some of that thinking -- because I had never seen something like that before -- that a lot of that thinking then infused my further revisions and informed my further revisions. Surely there were plot points as well, but I remember that being fundamental to me."

Looks like the new Blade movie with Viggo Mortensen's girlfriend replacing Wesley Snipes is still dead. Not surprised.

From one of the writers, Michael Starburry, who talks about the script he wrote during the development phase:
Starrbury stressed that he had worked on a draft for Blade before the Writers Guild of America strike went into effect. During his time on Blade, he "never saw a version where Blade was the 4th lead" nor that there was a "narrative led by women and filled with life lessons." However, Starrbury added, "I suppose a lot could have happened since I had anything to do with it," before sharing that Blade "was in 99% of the scripts I was a part of."
@therealjquinten asked the writer "if Blade isn't about Blade then why would we watch it?" Starrbury added, "He was in almost every scene when I was involved. I don't know what happened but I'll just say I seriously doubt he was ever the 4th lead in any draft." At the time of this story's publication, Marvel Studios has not commented on the initial Blade script reports.

4th lead? The movie is becoming a mess. Blade is the only superhero that doesn't need another movie.

"We’re working on it. That’s the best I could tell you," Ali told Entertainment Weekly in a new interview. "I’m really encouraged with the direction of the project. I think we’ll be back at it relatively soon."

If this doesn't pan out, Chad Stahelski is game for it.

I didn't think so until I saw Mahershala Ali take the stage during its announcement. Personally I barely care. I think he'd be an excellent Blade but I also don't think it's needed or necessary.

During an interview late last year, star Mahershala Ali shared a positive update on the project, and the actor sounds confident that shooting will be ready to commence fairly soon. “We’re working on it. That’s the best I could tell you. I’m really encouraged with the direction of the project. I think we’ll be back at it relatively soon. I’m sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that,” he added. “So that’s the extent of what I can tell you.” With things (hopefully) back on track, Daniel Richtman has shared some new plot details. Apparently, Blade is "still a period piece" and "still very much rated R." The story is said to focus on Lilith (Mia Goth) attempting to get hold of some blood from Blade's daughter so she can create her own army of Daywalkers. The villain will reportedly wield the Ebony Blade.
