The film has grossed almost $160 million in North America and $362 million overseas, totaling $522 million globally.
So disappointing. It won’t even pass $700M. Will probably pass $600M just barely. I really wanted it to get to $800M. Just wasn’t even close. Yeah it's too bad, really. Not sure if the splitting it up into two movies was a turn-off for prospective moviegoers or because it was just a very competitive summer. Or perhaps both played a role.

Not sure if the splitting it up into two movies was a turn-off for prospective moviegoers or because it was just a very competitive summer. Or perhaps both played a role. I think it was more the latter, but I could see the former taking a toll on people. Especially after Fast X and Across the SpiderVerse were so open-ended/arguably unsatisfactory after their first part endings. The release date was a huge fumble, though. If they released it even just two weeks earlier or (the best option) this weekend as a late summer release, I think it’d have made close to $800M (if not more). Word of mouth is strong for it, people just aren’t inclined to go see it in the first place.

This franchise has run it's course.
Time for Cruise to do more dramatic roles. He looked washed up in Part 1.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, per Collider, Ferguson addressed the untimely death that Ilsa Faust met in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One and if she’d be willing to return to the franchise in some capacity in the future. “Well, I mean, sometimes those three-picture deals you have in Hollywood, they end, and actors have the possibility of saying no,” Ferguson said. “And we were at that point. Mission is such a huge dedication, and I’ve done it now, and it’s fantastic. And it’s amazing, and McQ and Tom wrote this incredible character. “There’s just that much you can do with a character, I find, and I’m entitled to my own opinion on this too. I want her to go rogue. I’m interested in the dark side, I don’t want to be a team member, I’m not interested in that. And I felt like that was where we were headed. It takes a long time to make Mission too. It is blood, sweat and tears doing those. Since I finished, I’ve done a TV show and two movies, and they’re still doing [the same] Mission. But, you never know.” www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/1531081-rebecca-ferguson-addresses-her-mission-impossible-characters-fate-and-potential-future

Bump! Rebecca Ferguson talks about Ilsa’s departure from the franchise: “To speak very clearly — because I know a lot of people are sad about it, I’m sad about it — I had filmed three films. My deal was done. And I love her beyond words. Beyond words. I think she’s the most awesome, fantastic character. “Ilsa was becoming a team player. And we all can want different things, but for me, Ilsa was rogue. Ilsa was naughty. Ilsa was unpredictable. There was a lot of characters coming in, not leaving enough space for what she had been. “Selfishly, that’s a lot of time to make a ‘Mission’ film. And unless you’re going to have a lot of screen time, that’s a lot of time sitting around waiting to film a huge movie that could take over a year to film. It’s dedication.” “There’s a moment where you think it needs to be worth it, not just to love the character and to embrace Tom and [McQuarrie] and the story. I want to work, man. I want to work. I don’t want to sit in a trailer and know that there’s maybe coming a scene in credits. “You have to literally jump when they say jump, and that’s why it’s amazing. You’re highly trained, highly skilled. It is so intoxicatingly exciting when you’re rolling, but there’s a lot of waiting. And the more characters that are brought in, the more waiting.” screenrant.com/mission-impossible-movies-ilsa-death-rebecca-ferguson-exit-explained/

Hollywood never learns to reign it in. I remember back in 2016, they had a flop every other week for that whole summer.
