Wa-a-a-a-ay back when I was in high school and the Road Picture trend was in full swing, the theaters would sell souvenir books in the lobby. I always bought them. Guy Rolfe was in “King of Kings” (1961). He played the High Priest of the Sanhedrim, Caiaphas. For some reason, I was fascinated by his picture and his name. I haven’t seen him in much more (or remember him from movies I HAD seen) with the exception of “The Case Of Marcel Duchamp” where he played Sherlock Holmes. I saw enough of this somewhat rare movie to know that it is a pastiche. Duchamp was into Cubism and Dada plus his life, as I understand it, was something of a mystery. In this movie Holmes investigates Duchamp’s life and art as if investigating a crime making it something of a variation on a documentary. But it also shows that Rolfe would had made a good Holmes in a straight adventure.
