Primeira Liga: Sporting win a belter at home against Vizela, kicking the winner in the 10th minute (of 8 minutes) of stoppage time after blowing a 3-2 lead. Braga scored first at home but then lost to Familicao 2-1. A couple of good long goals in that one. Benfica and Porto both play away tomorrow.
EFL: Barnsley drew away to Bristol. Bugger.

Bellingham scored in his debut for Real. Interesting times for the England national team; I’d argue that two of their three best players are abroad (Kane, Bellingham, with Saka the lone home representative).

Another belter in Primeira Liga, Arouca coming from behind to win 4-3 over Estoril with the winner coming deep in stoppage time.
I'll catch up with La Liga later today...probably.

A lot of talk about having so many EPL players in national team was a strength for England, which it may well have been. A World Cup semi and a Euro final are nothing to sneeze at. So it will be interesting to see how playing in overseas leagues affects their cohesiveness in internationals if at all.

So it will be interesting to see how playing in overseas leagues affects their cohesiveness in internationals if at all. I'd wonder if it could actually work in their favor, somewhat. Bellingham already has experience playing in Germany and now gets to try his hand against Spanish tactics - theoretically, amassing experience in different environments is a good thing. Kane gets to play in front of a particularly rabid fanbase while similarly encountering differing defensive setups than he may be used to - possibly to his benefit if he's up to the challenge. There's also the fact that the Euros next year will be held in Germany - Kane will, by then, already have direct experience playing in that sporting sphere, the stadiums, the culture etc. Granted, I'm likely overthinking this. There's no monolithic English playing philosophy in the PL, after all - all of England's players are experienced playing against different tactical styles influenced by managers from all over the world, and most of them play under foreign managers themselves.

Porto do it the hard way, coming from 1-0 down to defeat Moriense and then having to survive stoppage time a man down after a blatant red card.
They'll be even happier as Benfica blew two leads in Boavista. Currently 2-2 there well into stoppage time, but it has been a round of ridiculously late winners. A fine effort from Benfica as they've been a man down since the 50th minute.
Edit: it happened again! Boavista win it with a goal in the 13th minute of stoppage time! Right after Lourenco was red carded to make it 10 on 10.

With La Liga, Sociedad absolutely threw away 2 points against Girona allowing a late equaliser in a game they dominated. Valencia winning 2-1 in Sevilla was fun, so was Xavi getting himself red carded in the Barcelona/ Getafe bore draw. Atletico won a fun one 3-1 over Granada. Was actually a good effort from the visitors who created some late chances but couldn't equalise. Atletico's 3rd was basically the last kick of the game.

Braga and Benfica square their ledgers with week 2 wins. Benfica were Unconvincing at home winning 2-0 over Estrela. Braga turned it on to down Chaves 4-2 away. Boavista also won on the road over Portimense 4-1 while Vitoria defeated Gil Vicente 2-1 at home. Porto host Fairense tomorrow. 14 games in and not a single draw in Primeira Liga.

Porto wins 2-1 at home defeating Farense. Very late winner. First draw of the season in Vizela but not a dull one: 2 red cards abd 4 goals.
Barnsley lost 3-1 at home to Oxford U. Bugger.
