I believe baseball and cricket have a similar origin, but cricket is the harder sport to play, due to the complexity of the conditions and rules. Test cricket is a civilized game that starts at ten or eleven in the morning, stops for lunch and afternoon tea, can last for up to five days and still have no outcome. Meanwhile, baseball involves a lot of chewing, spitting, ball-scratching and sliding about in the dirt like filthy animals... PS - Before Test cricket had a set time limit, it could last as long as it had to. The lengthiest recorded cricket match was the `timeless' Test between England and South Africa at Durban, South Africa, from the 3rd to the 14th of March 1939. It was abandoned after ten days - eighth day rained off - because the ship taking the England team home was due to leave. Yeah, any sport that takes a break for a cup of tea is a real physical challenge. And the batter wear more padding that the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. Christ, I could hit a ball with that boat oar they use
Actually, it can be quite the physical and mental challenge, due to the extended periods spent in the field under all sorts of extreme temperatures. There are two teams and they can't both stand at the crease simultaneously, which means one side is required to run, bowl and field the ball all over the field. Meanwhile, the opposing team has to remain focused and face up to a small, hard leather ball that might be coming at them at up to one hundred miles per hour, for hours at a time. Despite all the padding and the "boat oar," accidents still happen and people are still injured or die at the crease... and most of the fielders often wear very little in the way of padding or protection. However, you talk a good game... :)

One question I've had and maybe someone can answer. Why is a cricket ball more dangerous than a baseball? Because British men are bigger and stronger than faggot American males, they can hit the ball harder thus making the impact on the victims skull greater.

My mom used to call TV the boob tube. This was before VHS, ON TV, or later streaming. She’d be horrified to know just how true her words were 😅. She also called it the idiot box. Again spot on… not going to call any particular channel viewers out, but they know who are (they’d just deny it anyway and start the endless back and forth that typically takes place).

I remember in the 70's when PBS showed I, Claudius. We watched it because my Mother and me were history nerds. Mom almost soiled herself when nude boobs were shown. I told all my friends to turn on PBs because there was nude women on the TV. Everyone called me a liar, "It's TV, they can't show nudity!". It two weeks, I, Clau, Clau, Claudius was must see TV.

How ironic that as you were writing about PBS boobies in this thread I was posting a PBS article (of another nature) in another.
