A. AWARDED - the "Best Picture" Oscar by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences B. Curt BOIS as the pickpocket. Bois had a long career in movies, spanning over 80 years C. CLAUDE Rains - Visible in this film as Captain Louis Renault D. DUE to wartime restrictions on building supplies, Rick's Cafe was one of the few original sets built for the film. The rest were recycled from other Warner Bros. productions E. EVERYBODY Comes to Rick's. The play that was made into Casablanca F. FRENCH National Anthem, "La Marseillaise," tearfully and loudly sung to drown out the German officers who'd been proudly singing their patriotic "Die Wacht am Rhein," in which one verse translates to, "And if my heart breaks in death, You won't become a Frenchman yet, As abundant with water is your flood, So is Germany in heroes' blood."
