This will be the General Page where me, san926f , and TheGoodMan19 will guide you through the Massive Stephen King Dark Tower Universe. This Universe has 8 Back Bone books. There are separate secondary books and short stories that fill in information, expands on characters and concepts, and generally fills in the gaps. This will be the place we set dates and goals for reading or listening to the pages/chapters each week. We will also discuss here those pages/listening goals. There will be a Private Message Chain for off topic/slight off topic discussions, technical problems, and sourcing out resources. I have access to all the books/short stories in pdf and audiobook form. When you join the PM chain just let me know. This will be a decent commitment as there is a lot of plot/story to get through. Don't worry if you start and you don't want to continue no one will think less of you. Right now the List consists of this: Back Bone Books The Dark Tower Books: The Gunslinger The Drawing of the Tree Waste Lands Wizard and Glass The Wind Through the Key Hole The Wolves of the Calla Song of Susannah The Dark Tower Supplementary Novels: The Stand The Eyes of the Dragon IT The Talismen Rose Madder Desperation The Regulators Insomnia The Black House Salems Lot Hearts in Atlantis Short Stories: Little Sisters of Eluria Jerusalem's Lot Ur Everything Eventual Reference Material (no AudioBook form): The Dark Tower The Complete Concordance Revised and Updated Oh this will be a loose commitment thing. If you have to take a break that's cool. I am planning on a revolving weekly/monthly plan. We set a goal for say 1.5 hours of audio time or the equivalent in chapters to be read by Monday the 6th of November at 5pm EST. AFter that date everyone is free to discuss those 1.5 hours of reading. We will also set the next goal for 1.5 hours/Chapters for Mon 13th at 5 Me you and Marylin will poke and prod to get discussions going. The only rule is no discussion spoilers/chapters before we get to them. You can discuss all you want for readings past. So the 13th comes up and we start discussing those parts, but you want to bring up something that happened in the 2nd chapter go for it. In the future when we get to another book obviously you can bring up ties to previous readings. Basically the weekly goals are for keeping everyone in the same general area of discussion and limit spoilers.
IF you have nothing to say or you are out of commission for a bit don't worry. You can step back in when you can.

I'm also designing a faux Movie Poster of all the Evil Characters. I'll draw it then have it process it into smaller lithographs. I will give the Lithographs to the contributors when we get half way. If that does well I will design the heroes for the end. (We will work out getting the lithographs to you. We can do it to general delivery to a specific post office not to your address if you don't want to give up your address). I don't know what I will do with the huge originals.

Ok Foxy , tommyrockarolla , bartlesby go out and recruit others to join. :) This will be semi-apolitical (as there is some politics in the stories) please leave your interpersonal scrapping and long history of grudges at the door. Consider me Lorne from Angel and this is Caritas.

Interesting. I’ve been curious about these novels ever since I saw Hearts of Atlantis. They all seem connected.

I read the first 7 books years ago.
I am re-reading 'The Drawing of Three' right now.
Of course, I am a thorough study on 'The Stand'. (The Trashcan Man has been my moniker for about 25 years.)
The Gunslinger
The Drawing of the Tree
Waste Lands
Wizard and Glass
The Wolves of the Calla
Song of Susannah
The Dark Tower

The Gunslinger The Drawing of the Tree Waste Lands Wizard and Glass The Wolves of the Calla Song of Susannah The Dark Tower The plan right now is to Go through the Primary and Secondary books in an order that kind of fills in different sections. Usually in flash back form... Like Technically speaking the Short Novella/Long Short Story the Little Sisters of Eluria takes place right before The Gunslinger (usually considered .5 kinda how the Novel Dark Tower Wind through the Key Hole is 4.5) but I'm putting it near Wizard and Glass as that's a rear facing story...

I am pretty rusty on most of the details (and there are loads of details), adding in the super-natural elements of multiple universes and overlaps. It's no wonder Rowland is bat shit crazy.

Not to mention the Time/Space slipage... You willing to go around the bend one more time this time with all the suplementals? After it's over there is 3 little novels that deal with the World to a Degree in the Gwendy Trilogy that I'm probably going to nix for reasons I don't want to discuss in open thread. Still it's a lot. I've gone through The Stand (original and uncut like 3 or 4 times), but pretty sure you probably know it better than me. We could lean on you when it comes up... (And to be honest it comes up 3rd in the reading list..)

Yeah basically starting at Haps Garage and cutting out Alice Underwood and The Kid was a mistake...
