One good thing about the Clash, similar to their contemporaries the Jam who immediately crossed my mind when I opened this thread, is they embraced many styles with their music - reggae, soul, funk, disco etc. - so, a song like 'Train In Vain' could be sampled by Garbage on the dancetastic 'Stupid Girl'.
