When Sweden is playing Denmark, it is SWE-DEN. The remaining letters, not used, are DEN-MARK.

When you say "forward" or "back", your lips move in those directions.

Akira Ifukube came up with Godzilla's roars by rubbing a coarse, resin-coated leather glove up and down the strings of a contrabass (double bass), and reverberated the recorded sound.

During a drought in 1915 a rain dancer was hired by the city of San Diego to fill up their dams. He asked for $10,000 and said there would be no fee if it didn't work.
They had record flooding that winter. So much that it actually broke one of the dams. The city refused to pay him.

People say "spitting image" believing that's the expression when it's really "spit and image" meaning one takes after someone else in both substance and appearance.
It's truly amazing how many people think a child looks like their parent while expectorating.

If they're dumb enough to hire an obvious conman they should have paid up when his stupid promise over delivered.

I agree from that perspective, but if the deal really was as you posted it owing him is iffy since you can't fill a damn that's been broken.

And then collapsed from the flooding. I would have doubled down and asked for $20,000 to keep the rain away while they did repairs.

Your state has a storied foundation of con artists; I believe psychics are all your fault. And remember that fool's gold you tried to sell, back in the day? One o' youse. Californians are legion.

Those are quite nifty. The prognathous jaw they all sport is a little alarming, but they're pretty cool nonetheless.

In 1845, a bridge collapsed in Great Yarmouth, killing 79 people who were watching a clown swim in a tub being pulled by geese. I'm torn as to whether to LOL at this or no.

The first ever criminal use of a getaway car was by the notorious Bonnot gang in Paris on December 21, 1911. The gang robbed the Société Générale Bank in broad daylight and then fled in a limousine, which they had stolen a week earlier. They were dubbed les bandits en auto by the police and the ongoing story of their murders and robberies made the front covers of newspapers for weeks. www.connexionfrance.com/article/Mag/French-Facts/The-first-ever-getaway-car-was-French

Silly goes all the way back to Old English, when silly meant happy or blessed. This positive term quickly changed. Silly became a synonym for innocent or harmless, and then became an adjective for something or someone worthy of sympathy.
So when you tell someone to stop being silly you're actually telling them to stop being happy or blessed.
