Is that supposed to mean something? Paulslaugh made the effort to provide you the definition of consciousness you asked for, in great detail. Apparently you never really wanted an answer to begin with, which is not surprising. A. You have never established that this censorship ever really occurred. You can't even tell us what this "first medical book" was--most likely it was Chinese or ancient Greek, written before there was even a church. You literally don't know shit about what you are claiming.
B. Removing (or including) "consciousness" on a list of senses has no bearing whatsoever on the control the church had over people.
Any idiot can google a definition or consensus of individuals who choose what others read. The history books are full of lies. There's even a saying, "History is written by the victors." I guess you're going to deny that the church ever omitted books from the Bible too. And I guess you also believe a religion that tortured people if they didn't believe as they were told wouldn't have the power to say what went into any other books as well. Obviously, there's another sense you don't believe: common sense.

Obviously, there's another sense you don't believe: common sense. There is an epigraphic record of how the early church decided on the canon of the Christian Bible. You’re claiming some science book during some time during the first millennium said “consciousness” is the sixth sense and the Church censored it. If this is true, then you had to either hear or read it somewhere, therefore cite your source.

And btw, faustus5, it absolutely had a bearing on the church's control of people. They wanted control of what people believed, thought, and their very minds. We can see that even today with the media as well, and the revisionist history being attempted by the Left. The less people think for themselves the better for those in power.

My sources are confidential. Your "source" isn't a source. It's some idiot who told you something, and being the know-nothing, gullible fool you are, you came here and posted it. That's literally all that is going on. No, it didn't. In the real world, especially back then, average people didn't give a shit about obscure terminology and nothing in their lives changed either way based on whether they believed consciousness was sense. You are simply batshit crazy.

My source is someone who has not only studied this history, but traveled all around the world to see artificats and other evidence personally, and wrote books on what he discovered. What have you done? Are you denying people were punished for going against what the church and academic leaders believed? People have been threatened even in modern times for doing that.

I don't believe one word of this. You can't even tell me what the book is--you are just making shit up.Nope. I'm denying that the church gave a shit if consciousness was considered a sense or not.

That's your opinion. No, it is a matter of historical fact. If the church cared about this issue, they would have loudly proclaimed so in public. They never did.
Prove me wrong and cite official church documents saying otherwise. Good luck with that, because we both know you can't.

And who wrote the 'historical fact'? People who had the power to decide what people like you (limited) had access to. No, the church would NOT have "loudly proclaimed" something they didn't want the public to know.

No, the church would NOT have "loudly proclaimed" something they didn't want the public to know. Make up your mind--did the church want to control what people believed about consciousness and the senses, or not? Did they care about this issue, or not?
If they didn't give a shit about this issue, then we shouldn't hear about it. If they did give a shit, then we'd know about it, just as we know about every other issue they were actually concerned about. That's how the real world works, cupcake.

I thought I was clear about that. If you think they made public everything they did behind closed doors, then you are incredibly naive if not outright stupid.

Here's what's really stupid--believing that the church gave a crap about consciousness being a sense while literally doing nothing about it and keeping this a complete secret from everyone.
Here's what's happening here: you posted something stupid and ignorant, I called you out on it, and now you are twisting yourself into knots trying to create a reality in which your stupid OP makes sense. It doesn't, and never will.

They DID do something about it. They ordered it out of any medical or academic books/instruction. You don't have to believe it.

Example: Someone says, "I sensed that someone was out in the backyard." Or, "I had a feeling someone was out in the backyard."
That 'sense' and 'feeling' is awareness, which is akin to consciousness, or being conscious of.
