That only have one good album, and it's their first one?
Or, bands that only have first and second albums that are good.
Because, the filmmaker that made the texas chainsaw massacre. Only made one good film. So, if a director only made one good film, then there's singers and bands that only made one good cd.

I liked Fright Night (1985).

I liked Fright Night (1985). Tobe Hooper (TCM director) didn't direct Fright Night. Tom Holland directed Fright Night. You might be confusing Fright Night with Poltergeist, another film Hooper directed.

Go-Go's immediately come to mind. Beauty and the Beat is such a great album. Refreshing, bright, poppy guitar rock with killer hooks, a punk edge, and an all female lineup. Hell, even Robert Christgau liked it. Unfortunately, they used up all their good ideas on that first album. The other ones they did were forgettable and pretty much just an inferior rehash of the debut. A lot of legendary punk and new wave bands had that same problem (Wall of Voodoo, Stray Cats, Men At Work, Waitresses, FEAR, TSOL, Agnostic Front, etc), putting out iconic debut albums and then following them up with so-so albums.
Psychedelic Furs. Two fine mopey post-punk albums and then....
We could argue the merits of Forever Now, I suppose. I like a few of its songs but it was a step in the wrong direction imho.

Elastica (loved their debut, their second album was meh)
I kinda wanna say Television, Adeventure is a fine album, but just can't quite stack up to Marquee Moon

Well the magnetic fields I say.
First two albums, they rock! And then , nothing after that is good for me.

Poltergeist never did much for me either. TCM, Funhouse and Salem's Lot are my favorite Hooper films.
