American-born Mexican actor Armando Silvestre has left us at the age of 98, on June 3rd.  At the time of his death, along with Ignacio López Tarso, he was the oldest living Mexican actor and one of the last surviving stars from the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. He acted in movies such as Lola Casanova (1948), Hiawatha (1952), The White Orchid (1954), The Miracle Roses (1960), Santo Contra los Zombis (1961), Geronimo (1962), Kings of the Sun (1963), The Scalphunters (1968) and Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970). American actor Tony Lo Bianco has left us at the age of 87, on June 11th. (prostate cancer)  He began his career in theater, and appeared in several Broadway productions throughout the 1960s. He transitioned to films in the 1970s, starring in the New Hollywood crime films The Honeymoon Killers (1970), The French Connection (1971), and The Seven-Ups (1973). He won an Obie Award for his 1975 role in an Off-Broadway production of Yanks-3, Detroit-0, Top of the Seventh, and subsequently earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor for his role as Eddie in the 1983 Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge. In addition to film and theater, he appeared as a guest-star on numerous television series throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including appearances on Police Story (1974–1976), Franco Zeffirelli's miniseries Jesus of Nazareth (1977), and Marco Polo (1982). Other movie roles include F.I.S.T. and Bloodbrothers 1978, City Heat 1984, Nixon 1994, Kill the Irishman 2011 and Somewhere in Queens 2022. He is remembered by DeadlineR.I.P. Tony Lo Bianco |
