English blues and rock musician, songwriter and producer John Mayall has left us at the age of 90, on July 22nd. In the 1960s, he formed John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, a band that has counted among its members some of the most famous blues and blues rock musicians. A singer, guitarist, harmonica player, and keyboardist, he had a career that spanned nearly seven decades. At ninety years old, he was one of the oldest active musicians. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the musical excellence category in 2024. His music appears on several soundtracks. He is remembered by Rolling Stone magazineR.I.P. John Mayall

Scottish actress Pat Heywood has left us at the age of 92, on July 25th. In 1968, she debuted in film at the age of 36 as Juliet's nurse in Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet (BAFTA nominated), followed by small roles in Staircase (1969) and Battle of Britain (1969). Her next role was as a maid in the psychodrama Mumsy, Nanny, Sonny and Girly (1970) by Freddie Francis. After that film she was seen (often in supporting roles or short appearances) in comedies, thrillers and horror films. Her other film roles include parts in All the Way Up (1970), Whoever Slew Auntie Roo? (1971), 10 Rillington Place (1971, where she played Ethel Christie, the wife of serial killer John Christie), Young Winston (1971, as Winston Churchill's nurse), Bequest to the Nation (1973), Wish You Were Here (1987, as Lynda's aunt Millie), Young Toscanini (1988), Getting It Right (1989), and Franco Zeffirelli's Sparrow (1993). Spanish actress Teresa Gimpera has left us at the age of 87, on July 23rd. A former model who since her film debut in 1965 appeared in over 100 movies until 2016. A light-haired beauty which was seen as exotic by her Spanish compatriots. Among her movies are Fata Morgana (1965), Lucky, the Inscrutable (1966), Black Box Affair (1966), El extraño caso del doctor Fausto (1969), The Exquisite Cadaver (1969), The Legend of Frenchie King (1971), The Night of the Devils (1972), Hannah, Queen of the Vampires (1973), The Spirit of the Beehive (1973), Course Completed (1987) and The Long Winter (1992). Irish author Edna O'Brien has left us at the age of 93, on July 27th. Her works often revolved around the inner feelings of women and their problems in relating to men, and to society as a whole. Among her works that has been filmed and/or written by her are Girl with Green Eyes 1964, I Was Happy Here aka Time Lost and Time Remembered 1966, Three Into Two Won't Go 1969, Zee and Co. aka X, Y & Zee 1972, The Country Girls TV-Movie 1983 and Wild Decembers TV-Movie 2009. American make-up artist Leonard Engelman has left us at the age of 83, on August 1st. He worked on the films Cat People (1982), Ghostbusters (1984), Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Rocky IV (1985), and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), and the television shows Cagney & Lacey (1982) and The Shield (2004–2005). He was Cher's personal make-up artist and worked with her on the films Moonstruck (1987) and Tea with Mussolini (1999), as well as photo shoots. He was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Make-up: one in 1972 for the episode " Pickman's Model" of Night Gallery and one in 2001 for Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.
