I did pretty much the same trip after a trade show in Vegas about ten years ago: Zion National Park, Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon. We also went to Canyon de Chelly National Monument, and flew out of Phoenix rather than returning all the way to Vegas. It was a great trip! *** Edit *** Sorry, it was Bryce Canyon National Park, not Zion National Park. What was Bryce like? We were going to go, but had to drop it as we were running late.
It was beautiful. Very unique scenery. Well worth the hassle that it was to get there – we left Vegas a bit late, went south first because I really wanted to see the Hoover Dam, and then turned around back north- and eastwards. By the time we reached our hotel at the entrance of the Bryce Park we had been driving in the dark on small roads for hours.
I am hoping to visit the Arches National Park (also in Utah) some time.

On the train home from the airport.
By the magic of technology, I set my heating timer while in the airport in LV. Should be toasty when I get home.

And I see I still have my Christmas decorations up.... Hope you enjoyed your hols. Thank you! The work part was dull, but I did enjoy leaving the first evening's work do after 45 minutes and, instead of standing around talking work shit, going for a wander and photoing the bright lights. The trip round the parks and canyons was just amazing. We'd booked a tour with an operator but the evening before departure, there was a mess-up with the booking so we didn't get on the bus and instead rented a car and did it ourselves and it was wonderful. Freedom of the road and go wherever we wanted - an excellent 3-day tour of Arizona's and Utah's incredible sights. It was short but it's right up there with trips I've done.

Must be film, must be Konica for colour film, must be Ilford for black and white. Konica is the best film I have used for absorbing colours - so much more interesting than Kodak or Fuji. Most of the non-recent photos I have posted on here were done with a Canon Eos, which I got in 1987. It was the most wonderful camera ever - hands down, no contest. The way it felt in my hand the weight, the easy access to the light metering - just wonderful. Then along came the 'camera in a phone thing' I hated it. Camera in a phone?? That's just fucking stupid. But do you know what? I now think my phone camera is excellent. Actually, more than excellent - it's brilliant. It does the metering incredibly well so what I focus on is framing and timing. I suppose as a purist I could say I'm being replaced by technology! But no, it helps me get even better shots. Previously, with film, I used to get maybe one good shot per roll (36 pics). Now, I can get at least 10. There's your ROI.
