Even so, her plane should be somewhere. Anytime new Earhart news emerges it seems, people will scoff at it. Perhaps they think she flew into the 4th Dimension with MH370. One theory that I saw years ago is that she was captured by the Japanese and died in captivity. Some people think this photo shows her as a prisoner: That's what I believed happened, FWIW.

But it can’t be her plane! She was abducted by aliens.

She was likely eaten alive by coconut crabs.

That looks like a swept wing aircraft, which hers wasn’t. It’s probably a Zero or one of the many American planes from that era. Even so, her plane should be somewhere. Anytime new Earhart news emerges it seems, people will scoff at it. Perhaps they think she flew into the 4th Dimension with MH370. Its still weird that MH370 disappeared without a trace in todays era with technological advances. Not even a single body recovered.

It's apparently deeper down than the Titanic & not the money draw that ship is. Mom would talk about her. I think she was a hero to a lot of little girls of the era.

But why would they keep a famous American prisoner in 1937? Okay, they thought she was a spy maybe, but still, America and Japan weren’t at war then. I don’t even think FDR had ordered the oil embargo yet. To be fair, the Japanese army was pretty unique in it's structure. Instead of having a central authority, a lot of generals did their own thing without asking. Pearl Harbor, for instance. A central command wouldn't have authorized that. Pearl Harbor wasn't authorized by the Emperor?

He would have almost certainly been briefed on it, and in post WW2 Japan they admittedly downplayed his role in making military decisions to increase stability in Japan. It's unclear if he even had the power to veto it given the structure of Japanese military at the time.

More likely an F86 but given the sheer number of planes that went down during the war, it seems more likely to be a WWII-era plane.

The top brass had to have given the OK because Admiral Yamamoto was reluctant to do it, knowing full well that eventually America would fuck them up in the end.

Yeah, and Yamamoto's commanding officer was Nagano, Chief of the Naval General Staff of the Imperial Japanese Navy who was clearly in favor of the attack. He probably drew up the plans himself.

If they were successful at Midway the war would’ve changed dramatically. Check this read out on one author’s take had Midway been lost. It would’ve been a disaster for all the Allies: geopoliticalfutures.com/midway-battle-almost-lost-war/
