But are they landmark - did they change the way we look at TV? I.e. impact, not just funny. Is that the criteria though? Because "Walking With Dinosaurs" should get a mention if thats the case ALso, I would say that Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf, Dr Who, Blackadder all have had a significant cultural impact on the UK, far more than most of the shows on there. That's what the blurb and the link say.

I would have expected an entrant from the early 80s anarchic comedy scene to be on there, e.g. The Young Ones. Also Swap Shop for changing children's television and probably The Tube for a new look at Youth Culture.

I thought of that but wasn't that really a continuation of The Tube trying a bit too hard to be edgy?

Pretty good list, But FAWLTY TOWERS feels like an oversight. And without CROSSROADS there would be no ACORN ANTIQUES

The only reason I can think of for not including Doctor Who among a list of top Landmark British TV programmes of the last 50 years is that whoever compiled the list figured it wasn't eligible since it started outside the time frame.
*** Edit ***
So did Monty Python's Flying Circus, which IS in the list, so there goes that theory.

Too sexist. Must admit I never found him funny anyway. Benny Hill was for children. How was it sexist?

Monty Python had its great moments but wasn't great in its entirety, IMHO. It was hit and miss, unlike Fawlty Towers which basically didn't have a single bad episode.

I knew one of my all-time favourites wasnβt gonna be on there: Bottom. You gotta be a fanatical Rik Mayall fan for that one, which I am, but wasnβt too much into Alan Bβstard. His ten-year death anniversary is in 3 months.

On the bright side, they did not include Come Back Mrs. Noah.
