Boo! 😩😣😠The better team lost. I’m gutted. I'm fascinated. The miracle of May 1996 could be repeated: Kaiserslautern (with Team Captain Andreas Brehme who died some weeks ago) played 1:1 against Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and had to step down to the 2nd league. One week after that match Kaiserslautern won the DFB Cup against Karlsruhe. (The miracle went on - one year Lautern raised again to the 1. Liga and won the championship one year later...) At the very moment Kaiserslautern is on place 16 in the 2nd league... Yeah, but Saarb are a third tier side. And they deserve the final after beating three Bundesliga sides, including Bayern Munich. Yes sirree.

Another Wild little factoid: In 1954 the national teams Germany and Saarland (under French administration) played each other in Saarbrücken. Coach Germany: Sepp Herberger Coach Saarland: Helmut Schön Germany won 3:1 and needed that win to take part in the world championship in Switzerland - where they became champs later. Some years later Saarland was integrated and : Helmut Schön became coach of Germany, the continuation of that story is known to you ;)

Pretty harsh on Germany making them play an extra match! Thanks!
