School vouchers are basically a refund of your school taxes that you can use towards tuition at a private school. And what good is a $2,000 voucher to a $5,000/year school to a poor family? No idea what private schools are like where you are but private schools in Richmond are about 18k a year and more. Wayyyy too rich for my blood. |

A lot of parents are willing to spend a bit more when it comes to the education their kids receive.
Our area has open enrollment, so a ton of people have opted to send their kids out to the suburbs instead of the much crappier city schools

Current tuition at a Catholic high school in Western NY is approximately $8,000, or roughly 8 times what my parents paid for me in the early to mid 80's. A voucher covering even 50% of a private school's tuition will not help the poorest families. |

They spend hours studying and not playing video games. When you say Asians, do you mean East Asians or South Asians or Middle Eastern Asians? There are also Inuits in Siberia. |
