Yeah. Would normally cost around £11 or £12. Ordered it using this website and picked it up near closing time at 6.30pm. www.toogoodtogo.com/en-gbYou take what they give you though rather than being able to specify what you want. They have a US website too.

And here was me thinking the red velvet cup cakes I love so much are a steal at R18. To be fair, that is only 75p each, which has to be a bargain.
That said, it used to be ten bob or 50p a rand. What has happened to South Africa ?

You are kind of right mowlick, the pound sure goes a long way here. Many Brits come out here with 50 000 pounds, buy a house and retire. The good quality illegal cigarettes I buy here cost me R15 a packet of 20 or R140 for a carton of ten packets. When legal cigarettes and all tobacco products were banned during the draconian Covid lockdown, the demand for illegal cigarettes was insane, and the illegal cigarette market went into hyper inflation mode with the price of a packet shooting up daily until it got to R105 a packet - ending its run on R120 before the price went down. So ofunknownorigins offered to send me a few cartons of Marlboro's which he said he could get - across the state line, at the special price of 10 dollars a pack - 100 dollars a carton. I thanked him for his kindness and generosity but wouldn't let him send them because even with hyper inflation I could still get smokes cheaper here. Top quality legal and "semi legal" weed (the grey areas in the law are a goldmine; so people at some of the cannabis stores are selling "stickers" or "services"), sells for between R40 and a hundred rand a gram, but they have specials if you buy 10 grams.
That said, it used to be ten bob or 50p a rand. What has happened to South Africa ?
(In 1974 1 ZAR was equal to 1.5 USD which means a Rand was more valuable than a US dollar) Jacob Zuma and the corrupt, incompetent ANC, followed by Cyril Ramaphosa and the corrupt, incompetent ANC., and ESKOM, is what the fuck happened mowlick. Like Russia, South Africa is a kleptocracy. “South African Rand to U.S. Dollar Spot Exchange Rate reached a record high of 18.56510 in April of 2020 and a record low of 0.66790 in July of 1974.”PS. Although there are no records of the dollar rand exchange rate back then, I was a mite in 1967 and I can still remember my late father - who loved the US and with whom I would listen to the Voice of America and US boxing world title matches championships on the car radio in the early morning hours, and his friends talking about the incredible exchange rate and how cheap it was to holiday in America - the rand was, I kid you not, worth nearly four times more than the dollar. When I was about three, my dad couldn't stop taking about a new American boxer named Cassius Clay who he said would become the greatest boxer of all time. Turns out he was right. Funny the things we remember. God, I loved those early years in Cape Town.
