Isapop , Your same reasoning was used in Vietnam and every other failed American invasion.
Your, now repeated, attempts to characterize American aid as an "American invasion" only call attention to your dearth of any substantive arguments that address actual U.S. policy. We are invading no one. You have overlearned the lesson of Vietnam as to advocate isolationism instead of constant and healthy skepticism.No. Putin has long wanted to establish control over Ukraine. He invaded when he did because he regarded NATO to be weak, that his attempts to achieve control of Ukraine by other means had failed, and that installing a puppet government there would be easy.I'm no Neo-Con and I have no list. After aiding Ukraine, why would we next aid Iran? Unlike Ukraine, Iran is not a country fighting to preserve its freedom and democracy. (It has neither.)If Ukraine loses, the only thing the U.S. will have lost by trying to help them is some money. Such a small gamble on our part when Ukrainians are ready to do all the heavy lifting makes it worth the risk on our part. Isapop, you don't get my point. After stalemate in Korea, loss in Vietnam, pyrrhic win in Iraq where we've only created more turmoil, being kicked out of Afghanistan, just what has 75 years of imperialism gained us? We never win.
Vietnam is probably the most sterling example of our cynical and failed foreign policy. So we sacrificed 58,000 American soldiers and killed 2 million Vietnamese. Now, in the past few years two American Presidents have visited those evil Commies in Hanoi. So what was the point? They weren't so bad after all?
130 billion is a lot for a proxy war in Ukraine. And it's a nation with which we have no historical connection and no treaty. If Russia were to attack a NATO nation we are by treaty bound to go to war. But this foolishness of a proxy war with Russia, a nuclear power, is unnecessary and not in our security interests.
And I said nothing about aiding Iran. They are next on the Neo-Con's hit list.
Time to stop the overseas intrigue and keep our soldiers and our money here.
Ukraine has already lost by the way. Eastern Ukraine is what Russia wanted, they got it, and they'll never leave. Time for a ceasefire and negotiations which Russia has offered.

Yeah, I'm not sure how anyone can say Ukraine hasn't lost. They are not going to beat Russia back into a retreat at this point. It's been years now. We're supporting Ukraine's entire economy, and will continue to do so until some type of negotiation is reached. I could easily see this turning into a decades-long thing, and that seems to be what the MIC likes.

Only a fool wouldn't see there's a lot of skimming going on and Ukrainian hacks are getting rich of our taxpayers.

At this point I wouldn't be shocked if Putin isn't getting a cut of the action. Years of a fucking stalemate, and we just keep shoveling billions over, because dear lord, if Putin takes Ukraine, Paris is next! GTFOH. Five years from now this shit will still be going on probably.

I'm no fan of Putin or Russia. But this idea that they're trying to rebuild the Soviet Union is pure fantasy courtesy of the U.S. State Department. They had a difficult time getting a fifth of Ukraine. Russia is no threat to us.
