If you're the villain you're not escaping physically intact from a fight with an assassin anyway so no it's a stupid criticism. When Craig was criticised for his looks I joked that you can’t get into that many fist fights and remain handsome.

This is pretty good analysis of the genre in general. Mission Impossible, dozens of Bruce Willis movies, and near countless others. This is the frame for most comic book movies. It is the classic adventure story trope from the beginning of human myth making up to today’s “Hollywood Global.” I guess the next question is why does the repetition of this type of narrative persist? thrilling action sequences beautiful women snappy one-liners a disfigured villain
