Somehow I doubt he will be nearly as critical as any "other" religious book. Maybe he would, if another religious book was nearly as influential as the Bible, in the place where he lives.

Yes, he would be. Brian Cox speaks his mind. God bless him. I won't hold my breath waiting for that comment from him. As a man from Lewis, he would know which god I'm talking about.

As literature, it is one of the worst books ever. It's illogical, and there's no way it can inspire anyone. You go out in the world and you get cheated, and this God always rewards the ones cheating you (David is unpunished for cheating and killing Uriah, Jacob is unpunished for cheating Esau, the man who lied to the prophet is unpunished for lying, while the prophet is killed by a lion.
All this from a God who is supposed to be in charge, if we take the fundamental view.
As History, it is what it is. It's too self defacing to be anything but History.

I loved him as the Police Chief in Super Troopers. And he was an interesting early Lector.
But he'd be my 3rd favorite in the role thus far.

But if we're going to compare apples with apples: Is Saudi-Arabia currently waging war against a Christian country, or providing weapons and money to a Muslim country that is at war with a Christian country?
