He was president of a major country, which under normal circumstances would not be contfoversial as a mark of respect for that country, but Iran is hated by USA and Israel so must be protested. Why do you let his crimes in 2022 and 1988 slide? His crimes? 1988? I mentioned Bush's war crime of 2003 which resulted on the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. But he is your guy so gets a pass. Raisi also gets a pass because at least he only committed crimes in US law, that we all know is so flexible a butterfly flying past could be convicted of a capital offence, for example what Assange the way Assange is being railroaded.

Why do you let his crimes in 2022 and 1988 slide? Very normal and very cool. Oh yeah Raisi was a blood thirsty terrorist. Many of those people were hanged by cranes, which is a particularly hideous way to die.

Besides, you insult Americans all the time, not just our leaders. Why such coddling of Iran anyhow? It isn't coddling. Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and probably some of the gulf states have worse conditions for women but it is American and Israeli hatred of Iran that keeps it on the front page. The Iranian women protests are unheard of elsewhere because retribution would be worse. It is likely that without the heavy US sanctions for 40 years Iran would have become a less restrictive country because unlike SA and Afghanistan, Iran has a history and tradition of freedoms. One of the early results of sanctions in the 1980s was severe conditions for rural women because rug making was a major economic activity for women. All because America cant lose the 1979 insult.

What a joke. The UN is pathetic and is controlled by shithole countries and authoritarian states. The only good thing is some decent countries are on the UNSC to counter China and its bitch Russia.

It's a fucking disgrace, they should have pissed on his corpse. Bit hard to do that though. Can they send in an elite task force to steal the body or does someone have to organise a piss up in Iran?

As much as I utterly despise the Iranian theocracy and as much as I hope to see the day when every single Iranian Ayatollah meets the same fitting end as Benito Mussolini, Nicolau Ceausescu, Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi, there is still such a thing as diplomatic conventions that in principle should be respected.
Having said that, I would have smiled if the representatives of the USA, the UK, France and whatever other democracies are currently part of the UN Security Council had remained in their seats during the minute of silence.

And what's shameful about it, exactly?
Dignity is shameful?
