Not really much more you can say about this sci-fi classic that hasn't already been said. Amazing how this small movie inspired sequels, video games, a high school play, etc. It helped launch the careers for star Sigourney Weaver and director Ridley Scott. The Director's Cut doesn't really change the movie much outside of tighter editing and added scenes, but it still works. However, Ridley Scott himself has said the Director's Cut was a cut created mainly by Fox Studios, and the Theatrical Cut is his true cut of the movie. Awesome trailer for the movie by the way. Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: Alien (1979) - 3.5 out of 4 stars"Commercial spacecraft unwittingly takes on an alien being that wreaks merciless havoc on the crew. Space-age horror film reverts to 1950s formula, but unfolds at a deliberate pace, populates the story with interesting, colorful characters, and plants its (genuine) shock moments with exceptional skill. Imitated but seldom equaled. Screenplay by Dan O'Bannon, from his and Ronald Shusett's story; inspired by IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE. For 2003 reissue, Scott trimmed some material and added 4 1/2m of new footage, resulting in a 115m. movie. Followed by ALIENS. Panavision."

“… inspired…..a high school play.”
Sounds ambitious.

“… inspired…..a high school play.” Sounds ambitious. I saw the play myself when it was posted online 5 years ago and it was quite good. This play even got the attention of Sigourney Weaver and Ridley Scott. I was amazed at how it was put together and performed on a shoestring budget with these talented kids. Here's a behind-the-scenes video: Then the play itself. Very lucky to have found this since the original video was taken down. (Start at 9:30)
