Indeed, it is a long story. It begins with a man, a woman, a tree, and a snake.

And this war is over and you will forget all about Israel until another war starts in the region. I'm not going to forget it, the whole mess has taught me so much, I've grown to respect many so-called leftists and seen how brave some of them can be and I won't forget it. Yes I admire that they bravely cover their faces while yelling at Jews that they’re “baby killers” or “support genocide.”

There is not a single syllable in the op-ed that is wrong or false. Actually, there is. The author writes about the "West" not recognizing "evil". You'd think that the author would at least provide a definition for "evil", so the readers know what the author is talking about. But the author never does. And this paragraph seems to point out that the author themselves does not know what evil is. That's not what most Nazis were, according to philosophers like Hannah Arendt. They (the Nazis) often weren't obsessed fanatics, but simply people who did their job. Arendt called it the "banality of evil". Or to use another quote (author unknown): The scary thing about the Nazis was not how different they were from us; it's how similar they were. So the author, when writing about "evil", should define what "evil" is, and at least not get it wrong. There may be more parts wrong with the text; but one example is enough to show that there are syllabes wrong or false.

That's not what the columnist is saying. He is saying that too many Westerners do not understand the fundamentally evil nature of Hamas. Sometimes a person or a gang is so evil that he or it cannot be compromised with, but instead must be destroyed. Evil is relative, therefore, using categories like "evil" or even "fundamentally evil" is not helpful. Even the columnist in the OP doesn't even try to define "evil", which invalidates much of his column. In the current conflict, Hamas is the aggressor. However, if Israel decides to obliterate them by killing almost all Palestinian civilians, then the question who is more evil will be open for debate. I can't speak for the columnist, but I would define "evil" as the violation of a person's or persons' rights, or the desire to do so. Hamas's actions on October 7 obviously satisfy this definition. On the other hand, fighting back against the perpetrators when attacked is not evil. However, if Israel decides to obliterate them by killing almost all Palestinian civilians, then the question who is more evil will be open for debate. But Israel is not trying to do that. Even if we take Hamas's inflated figures, about 1.5% of the population of Gaza has been killed. That is not "almost all".

How many Israelis have to be murdered by Hamas before the leftists and other Israel-bashers will actually grant Israel permission to fight against Hamas? Fourteen? It is saddening how the rest of the world recently developed a strong dislike for Jews. After WWII and before recently Jews had quite many large spaces they could choose to live in peace and security. New York City was safe enough and often called the "New Jerusalem." (When it wasn't called the "Big Apple," long story, talk to The Herald Erjen ) When you argue that you must kill people who hate you then you should expect even more people to hate you. See now? You're going about it the wrong way. There was a video game in the early days of video games with a creature that doubled when you tried to kill it. Does that seem illogical to you?
Most of the people on this discussion board are just playing with computers and have no expertise, certainly not expertise like they think they have. Even they don't all entirely agree with you.
The religion of Judaism and the state of Israel have gone separate ways, and that is the cause of recent trouble. The state of Israel is now driven by a nationalism remarkably similar to that of the Nazis. You really want to "exterminate" your "enemies." See now?
Naturally then more and more people will hate you all around the world. There might be no "New Jerusalem" left for you. Please don't be a mentally retarded a--hole and say you're not Jew. It doesn't matter what you are. Your entire presence here is in defense of the current government of Israel and indeed "you" are in that party thereby. People are going to hate you as much as any Jew or citizen of Israel, and hate you more than they hate any faithful Jew. The state of Israel is now driven by a nationalism remarkably similar to that of the Nazis.
Nonsense. Israel is driven by a nationalism similar to that of Americans after Pearl Harbor and after 9/11. Americans immediately realized that the Axis Powers and al-Qaeda were enemies of America and enemies of the human race, and had to be destroyed. People are going to hate you as much as any Jew or citizen of Israel, and hate you more than they hate any faithful Jew.
Jews have been hated by much of the world for 2000 years. We're used to it.

The vast majority of Jewish Israelis and of Jewish supporters of Israel are not infected with permanent victimhood. Jews are survivors, not victims. It is the Palestinians who have a permanent victim mentality. A good example is how the two peoples dealt with refugees. After WWII, hundreds of thousands of Jews were stuck in DP (Displaced Persons) camps in Europe, or had been driven out of Arab countries. But Israel took them in, put them in TEMPORARY refugee camps, built permanent housing, and moved all the refugees to the permanent housing when it was available. There is no Jewish refugee problem today. In contrast, the Palestinian refugee problem (which they call the nakba, the catastrophe) continues to this day. The Palestinian and other Arab leaders have refused making a deal with Israel which would give the Palestinians a state and thereby end the refugee problem. They would rather have the Palestinians continue to languish in refugee camps.

We tried to rid the world of evil 20 years ago, and it exposed the corruption within our own ranks.
Now we're a little more hesitant to go scorched earth, and rightfully so.
Though we still have a lot of idiot warmongers who refuse to learn from past mistakes.

The Allied bombing of German and Japanese cities in WWII was never called a Genocide.

How else would I explain the statement "we are used to it". I don't hate you, btw. I strongly disapprove of you because of your gaslighting and your defence of a genocidal country. I couldn't care less if you are Jewish-. I am really not interested in your fairy tales about WW2. The Palestinian refugee problem is one that is entirely created by Israel. Everybody knows it. So, no gaslighting here about this.
