I do. Complete rejection of modern invention and convenience? What is that?
No religion in the world says modern invention or convenience is sinful.

I think that maintaining areas where there is no technology can be useful.
As in it being just the thing to cure some people of their bullshit.
Although the religious aspect of it is not helpful.
Think of a prison or treatment center where the inmates are not allowed to have access to electricity
or anything that runs off of electricity. Just the thing to cure people of their
smart phone addictions, and cure computer hackers of their propensity to cause technological mischief.

If they reject modern medicine for instance I would say not just stupid but criminally negligent if it resulted in someone dying. I don't know they do reject though. Some people do embrace more simplistic lifestyles. I'm sure hippy communes are around somewhere. |

Thats really racist ( and coming from me... that is saying something!) Amish are not stupid. They are pacifists that prefer a simple life. They arent hurting anyone. They could probably work both of us under the table on what they do in a day. SO what if they are not into technology and that isnt actually true. I am from PA and I have been to Lancaster several times. Amish can use some tech- they just wont use electricity coming from outside( they want it all self contained) They need battery powered blinkers when they use their horse carriages, They use gas( propane i think its been a couple years since i was there)powered devices ( washing machines) and before you say BS, here I have seen one in person- in an Amish house.  and I am the racist one?! at least I have my facts straight on who i dislike and think are stupid. Mennonites have real tech though. They are good christian people...They dont force their beliefs on you like LDS mormons. |

A while back a fellow named Omar Mateen shot up a gay nightclub in Orlando killing 49 people. The guy, in addition to the traditional yelling of "Allahu ackbar!!", got on the phone in the middle of the attack and quite specifically declared his allegiance to ISIS and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as well as identifying himself as "Mujahideen" and an "Islamic Soldier". For weeks after the attack, the greater part of the legacy news media in the US worked diligently to prove that the slaughter had nothing to do with ISIS, nothing to do with Islam, nothing to do with global Jihad, but was, in fact, the work of a closeted gay guy who had been bullied, or possibly a suppressed gay guy in a rage because someone had blown him a kiss or some shit like that. The local officials responsible for public safety and for investigating crime worked tirelessly toward the exact same end; the blood had not yet dried nor the gunsmoke cleared before the law enforcement press conferences included hourly appearances from a local Imam right alongside the law enforcement briefing folks. Said law enforcement found him to be a lone wolf, self-radicalized, and utterly unconnected to international terror. And people believed that shit. Gay people believed that shit. Even today, a sad majority of them think Donald Trump is a greater threat to their safety than anything else in the world. Now THAT is stupid. Not just stupid, but decadently stupid. By comparison, Amish people seem quite sensible. |

Most people are required to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes if they work, but there are exceptions. While the Amish community pays state and federal income taxes and property and sales taxes, the group is exempt from paying Social Security or Medicare.
Illegals dont even pay taxes. Ill take Amish over illegals any day of the week. Id be HONORED to have them as a neighbor.
