considering there was a 40% increase - give or take - in hispanic votes to Trump with his deportation rhetoric, i guess we'll see how they feel in 2 years.

You lamented that some goods might cost more if we didn't have illegal slave labor.

Kind of sounds like slavery. They were paid. Cant remember what minimum wage was around 1972. Picking fruit was piece work.

Yet the illegals crossed the border & worked regularly because the money was, in their opinion, good. I worked 6 days out of the week for around 1 month for 3 or 4 summers. Made around $60-80/week The migrants made more than that because they worked faster. We weren't supposed to pick the bad fruit like stuff birds had eaten part of I was mindful of it. The migrants stripped the trees of everything so their boxes were sold to the cannery by the orchard owner. My boxes they sold at their fruit stand.

Kind of sounds like slavery. "Kind of" isn't. Migrant workers are there because they choose to be there. Migrant workers are free to leave when whenever they choose to leave. Migrant workers can have children that aren't considered the property of the farm owner. The list goes on.
