Mary Ann Nichols was the first canonical victim of Jack the Ripper on this day (August 31st) in 1888. Trust Monkey to start a history section on such gruesome anniversary. Idiot!

See, London has always had knife crime. How do you expect the mayor to fix that?

I suspect that the murders stopped as he went to America as his violence would not garner the same attention there. It is my theory, it is all mine.

We should mark the day of each victims demise here, and discuss possible suspects, but imo we will never know who did it.

It should be noted that many Ripper experts believe that Martha Tabram was actually his first victim (7th August). She's generally discounted because of the different style of killing. However, most profilers will tell you that a serial killer's first kill is often very different to his later kills. The First one is spontaneous, unplanned, the expression of repressed desires. The later killings are more organised and thought out.

Double event. On this day in 1888, Jack the Ripper killed two women. The First was Elizabeth Stride. She had her throat cut but not the usual mutilations, and it's believed that the Ripper was interrupted just as he was killing her (sometime between 12:30am and 1am) by Louis Diemschutz and his horse. Roughly an hour later, the Ripper killed Catherine Eddowes. This time he got to do the job properly and mutilated her like his previous victims.

But there were no video games, no Hollywood movies then. How did anyone become a serial killer? Is this to say that mankind have it within themselves to be sick, twisted, low, violent scum? That the offender, not some external influence or force, is to blame and it's a matter of personal responsibility, of choice? Surely this is some sort of prank. Convincing links, though, good chap.

It's the 31st of August, not August 31st, you fucking git. I accidentally learned English English from music and literature and stuff. It's been a happy accident.
