They're much larger and heavier than pick-up trucks. You seem to be saying that there is some kind of hypocrisy at play if someone is against gigantic pick-up trucks but in favour of public buses. Did I understand it correctly? If so, that's a very stupid thing to say.
That's what I'm saying.
He's worried about a pick-up smushing him? There are a LOT of larger vehicles out there on public roads.
This is actually WHY I'm pissed off I can't getting tiny Japanese vehicles sold here that I'd like to drive.

I assumed that his opposition to gigantic pick-up trucks is more of an environmental nature than a road safety one - although the latter is also a valid concern. In any case, public buses HAVE to be big. Pick-up trucks don’t, in most cases. So comparing the two as you did doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

I really want to watch that film again.

My Govt won't let me have that small a vehicle. :( Cars have gotten bigger and fatter over the years/decades. We have a side entrance that was supposed to be a garage when the house was built before WW2 but it’s now too narrow for that.

I'm olde enough to remember the 'fuel crisis' of the 70s and the need for more economical cars..........well, since the SUVs arrived, they've done nothing but get larger and larger. IIRC, Ford quit making cars here altogether?
But I want to bring into the US tiny cars like the Honda Beat and N-ONE. Getting over 50 MPG is fun!

A pick-up truck can carry at most 5 people. And even the average of number of people on a bus is higher than the average number of people in a pick-up truck. The bus driver can see what's in front of them. The pick-up truck driver can hear that there was something in front of the truck; but by then it's too late. Buses don't take up space in public parking lots. Pick-up trucks do. Small cars are available for sale in countries not ruled by right-wingers.

Try googling "Toyota dealership USA", "Volkswagen dealership USA", "Hyundai dealership USA". I did, and got plenty of hits. There may be other brands with small cars in the USA. If there are not enough, next time there's an election vote for the candidate who will make gas prices go up.

Which part are you not understanding? Toyota and others make smaller vehicles that are sold outside the US.
So your answer to a lack of actual free trade is higher gas prices to force what exactly? people onto buses?

Are you telling me that Toyota, Volkswagen or Hyundai don't sell small cars in the USA? Well then you definitely should want higher gas prices. They will make people want to buy fuel-efficient cars, which are often smaller.

City buses are bad somehow?
They're much larger and heavier than pick-up trucks. So your OP has no point whatsoever. Got it.
